They are #4 for a reason. So, so, so close.

Re: Recruits-Impressed by Hilton
There is too much positive in this thread. Lets tone it down a notch guys.
I had a great time watching the game on tv. The place looked rockin and the team busted their butts, but just came up short. I think the recruits can see what the potential is.

We lost...there are absolutely no good things that came out of Saturday. None. Zero.
Read the post game thread and you would know this. -

Read the post game thread and you would know this. And anyone that thinks there were positives can feel free to sit by themselves and wallow in their mediocre program and their own mediocre lives. -

The opportunity for sarcasm was really hard to pass up this time -
Re: Recruits-Impressed by Hilton
I was impressed with Hilton also. Before the game, I wondered how many other fan bases would have this many people with a 1-4 team, and it got pretty vocal during the game.
They should also be impressed with the fact that they ought to be able to come in and play right away.
I also thought the game plan was excellent. The hard, quick double team worked great.
I will say that if you don't see problems with a 1-5 team, I think you're smoking something.
Yes, Cyclonennium1 (or whatever) is over the top, but so is shooting rainbows out of my ***. Can't there be middle ground?

There can. There should be.
Most of us know that our inexperience makes us an inconsistent team, and that we aren't the most athletic bunch per se.
I personally get revved up over the posters that call a recruiting class a failure during their freshman year, like we only have a team full of Lebrons coming in to start (and come off the bench, since we brought in 7 guys).
I think the over the top guys are so far over the top that they're just a caricature of themselves now. They're best responded to anymore with sarcasm.
A reasonable guy like you is someone that we should have as a Cyclone. Nothing wrong with pointing out the faults, because they're real.
Does that work?

Does that work? Overall, yes, I agree with your statement. The only thing I don't like is the "inexperience" argument. I don't think that the recruiting class was that great last year. If it was, they'd be playing now. I think what we're missing is B12 talent (experienced or not). Yes, Brackins is B12, and I think Diante is as well. From what I've seen, the rest of our team is role players, and that's not going to get it done.
I think coach has good gameplans, I think that was obvious against Oklahoma. He just needs better talent, and I think he's running out of time to get that talent (he needs to start winning some games next year to keep people interested in going to games).
Yes, Coach was handed some bad circumstances. But, we're still ISU and you can win at basketball here. I think he's a great x's and o's guy, an even better ambassador, but I'm not sold on his recruiting yet (biggest difference maker in wins).
I hate going down this road again, but I can't stop saying it. I'm more along the lines of what Bryce is saying.
I really apologize for derailing this thread. But, I'm passionate about ISU athletics, and I like having good discussions. I think people can agree/disagree and don't have to turn to namecalling or making up "facts". I think most peple can handle that (including you).
Wow, I'd better get some work done! -

Erik, don't you have a job to be doing?

I understand that and this is where the balance needs to come in - way to early to be calling the recruiting class a failure but at this point we're pretty much the only Big 12 team without an impact freshman (other than Ham) and that is disappointing as well.
