He is always going to be a player that needs better players around him to be good. He will never start at ISU and be more than a role player. There is nothing wrong with that. Every team needs role players. Hell we need some this year as we have no role players
And what exactly are you basing this on? Your ability to read the future? Or because of what you've seen of his play as a freshman? And if that's the case, I go back and wonder why others can't judge a freshman but you can.

How in the world can you possibly "know" that Pomlee or Buckley has a higher ceiling than Eikmeier? Eik is the only one that has proven in a game so far that he could be a Big XII player. Granted, Pomlee hasn't had the opportunity. And I am in no way trying to bring down Buckley by building up Wes. But Wes has shown way more ability than either of these two to this point. And he's the only one of the three that I have no doubt will be here for his entire basketball career...

It helped fuel a KSU run.

Did you watch the game at all? Do you actually follow the team?
Wow - you're only a little arrogant & you obviously don't know me at all.

I think the vast majority of us fans (even those of us you think don't know anything) expected Buckley to earn more and more minutes throughout the year and that has not transpired - so I asked the question.

You must not remember...I think he dropped 50 or so on Yutan last year...doesn't that count anymore??

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

Wow, an actual answer to my question! Thanks! I'd heard something was up, and just wondered what it was. I hope he gets feeling better and gets some minutes so that his freshman year isn't a bust, as far as him getting experience.

I think you are projecting your frustration with Petey/McD bashers on me. All I wanted to say is that I hoped that our freshman class would be pushing for more minutes on a team that isn't very good (like Hamilton has). Just b/c I feel that way doesn't mean that I don't understand basketball or that freshman players can develop into key contributors.

For the record I was a big Paul Shirley fan. His book is great.
No. I'm just agreeing that Petey is a solid contributor. Nothing more right now.

You haven't built the track record of negativity to get the frustration. There's one guy for that

I'm reading Paul Shirley's book right now. That books is a blast!!!!!

    Sure.

It was an inside joke with my wife and a ticket-holding friend last year, when it seemed like he could get called for fouls from the bench. It seemed like he got a lot of "interesting" foul calls, which led to a lot of posts about it.

It's not an intentional diss on him, but a reference to the incredible # of fouls he was able to pick up

I read about one with Shaq. I just read this morning about his Austin Croshere-kidney problem. Ouch.

    Re: What happened to Eikmeier?

i think GMac should play him more but he was sick and just cant get weight put on, plus it is a big adjustment for him. Eik will be a big contributer and make huge shots for ISU.

    Re: What happened to Eikmeier?

He hasn't been the same since he got sick and lost all that weight (15 lbs?) before they went to hawaii. Mac said early in the season that Wes needed a redshirt year, but he was contributing enough to make him rethink that.

I think he'll end up being a good player. In hindsight, holding him out of practice and getting his weight back up in Dec might have been the best option.

    Re: What happened to Eikmeier?

I think Eik is Haluska with more talent. Haluska may not please everybody but if you watch him play he is constantly moving and working to get open. I dont see that out of a lot of our players. At least when we are in the half court he keeps the defense moving and that will open up shots. Now if the rest of the guys are moving in the offense we may be able to score some more. God knows we cant score less a lot of nights.

    Re: What happened to Eikmeier?

It is obvious that we are not going to take home championships this year.

GMac needs to start playing more of the other young guards on the team to see who can surface for next year. We cannot win in the Big 12 when our point guard (DG) has only one shot- the right handed drive to the basket , and throws the ball away consistently.

I think haluska is alot more confident out there and haluska's defense is alot better and he's more experianced, case in point i like haluska alot better then eikmeier, but i think eikmeier is gunna be a good player for us in the future he has a great shot he just needs more time and he deffiantly needs to hit the weightroom

There is no comparing Haluska and Eikmeier defensively... They both have no shot filter whatsover though, as soon as they see daylight at all its going up...
