Re: What has happened to Lucca?
Some people on here and in the media overhyped him. He's just a player from another country, not the savior of this program.

Re: What has happened to Lucca?
He has no confidence shooting the ball and he is pressing to much. It's like a good hitter in baseball, sometimes you can't hit the broad side of a barn and other times you can't miss. He will be alright.

Re: What has happened to Lucca?
I don't think he should start next game...Boozer please! Or like in the other thread...put Buckley and DG on the floor at the same time!

Re: What has happened to Lucca?
I was just going to ignore this thread, but what the heck. As Mac said, he's essentially a freshman, and has never played at this level of competition before. And he has an occasional bad game shooting--twice the ball went in, and popped back out.
I could find the link to yesterday's Register if I weren't lazy, but the article said that he realizes that he has shortcomings in ballhandling, but the middle of the season is hardly the time to work on it. Oh, and IIRC, his knee is still only about 90%. So I hope that answers your question.

I will never rag on Lucca for his desire to stay in Ames and play for ISU. He'll get it going again.

Re: What has happened to Lucca?
Confidence has so much of an impact on players, especially college level and below. Just look at Brackins...he has the look that everything he puts up is going in, and lately it has. Earlier this year, he lacked that. An outside shooter is even more affected.
Plus, teams have identified him as an outside threat, and are sticking closer to him and closing out on him faster. He's getting some good looks, but probably thinks that those good looks will be few and far between, which causes him to rush.
He's going to be good for us, especially when he feels that confidence CB feels. I think that will come with experience.

Lets all boo "Cyclonesfan" for his terrible post. Every shooter goes through a slump. He is being guarded really well right now.
BOOOOOOOO

Re: What has happened to Lucca?
#1. This is his first year against Division 1 talent (pretty clear we do not have D 1 talent so practicing with the team last year did not count).
#2. He was over hyped by the fan base.
#3. Boozer is currently out playing him.
#4. Who knows if his knee is still bothering him. Saturday was the first time I noticed he did not have a knee brace on.

Re: What has happened to Lucca?
Lucca is a great shooter. Give him time, he is only a freshman in terms of experience. We aren't going to find a better shooter than him. I think we just need to take some pressure off and put him on the bench. Boozer has earned his keep right now and nobody deserves to start more than him right now. He ups the energy on the floor. This is what Boozer and Cam Lee do. I am not for playing Cam a ton, but if we need a boost or a kick in the butt, I think we need to stick Cam in there. One word, HEART!

Re: What has happened to Lucca?
Shooting slump and injuries can act up as well. Lucca knows what he needs to work on and he will just give him a break and some freakin time. I think Boozer is going to be in the starting line up soon just to help and take some pressure off of Lucca. Nothing against Lucca, but sometimes when there is alot of weight on your shoulders because of the fans and media being a sixth man and gaining confidence again can help out a ton. I think Boozer should start he has more experience and has been coming on since game three of this season.

He is just more passionate about basketball.
