Re: Hawkeye fan taunts Harrison Barnes
Our starting five sported mullets and moustaches. And maybe some of those short shorts with belts. Ahh, the good old days.
Re: Hawkeye fan taunts Harrison Barnes
Another person here that loves Taylor's Maidrite! I only go to M-town for 16 inch softball tournaments and ALWAYS have a blast. Best concession stand food in the state too!

I'll go farther than that...I'll bet that the guy has never been on campus in iowa city...

The other thing unique about Marshalltown is that they don't (or didn't) have ketchup in the store. Waitress told me 20+ years ago they couldn't afford it during the Depression and it hadn't been available since!
As for the guy who lives in Jasper County (with uncle from Joplin), there used to be a great old-time Maid-Rite in Newton. It shared a parking lot with a near identical restaurant that also featured loose beef sandwiches named Snook's Inn. I'll bet Newton wouldn't be as far out of his way!
Great Post ..Gotta tell ya that i love Maid Rites ...but I cannot eat one without ketchup and onions on it!!!!

To the poster who thinks I'm a liar, you're wrong. I have been a huge ISU fan my whole life and regularly visit this site, but just never felt the need to post. I thought what I witnessed would be interesting, so I posted it, that's all.
I didn't intend for it to turn into a discussion of maidrites or mullets, but be my guest.

If I ever find one, I'll definitely take this advice. So far, no luck though.

I thought it was an interesting story and never doubted your intentions in sharing it. I apologize for my participation in the hi-jacking of your thread, but it all fits with your original post. You said the heckler was fat (too many cheesy fries) and sported a mullet! Those of us familiar with Marshalltown can completely picture the scene...

If you have been reading this site for a while you should realize that everyone here has ADD:wink:. Its pretty rare for a thread to stay on topic for more than a page. It really doesn't even surprise me that an HB thread ended up talking about maid-rites, that's just the way it is around here. Some of the topic switches are pretty damn entertaining too.

So is being a hawk fan....coincidence? I don't think so.

I will Hijack this thread. Last weekend in Chicago and the International Bike Show, my buddy and I saw a fine example of a Mullet. The only thing that would have been better is if his son had a "Rat-Tail"

When we played Mtown in HS tennis they had a chalk body outline on one of the courts. It was obviously drawn by a genius not associated with the police, but we were amused nonetheless.

This was taken at the ISU-Baylor game in Waco last year. Notice the kid in the black t-shirt with the "rat-mullet." We affectionately named him "Rat Boy" while we were there.
