Hawkeye fan taunts Harrison Barnes
I attended the Ames-Marshalltown matchup Friday to see HB play. Ames turned a close game into a blowout in the fourth quarter, with HB and McDermott leading the charge.
As Ames was dribbing it out in the final minute or two, HB got a big smile on his face. After he came out and was on the bench, I noticed he was jawing with a Marshalltown fan across the court. The guy had a mullet, a thick beard and was overweight.
At one point HB pointed at him and then put his hand up to his ear, and the guy was yelling back and shaking his head. It was clearly something the Marshalltown fan started.
Then, once the game was over, I watched the guy get up and put on his Hawkeye jacket. Figures.

Yep, typical Iowa fan. Guarantee he cannot name their starting QB.

$100,000,000 says he doesn't even know who HB is. -
Re: Hawkeye fan taunts Harrison Barnes
Huh, this story makes lots of sense.
It was this obvious, yet the guy wasn't kicked out.
Barnes fought back with the guy? M'kay.
I guess Barnes is the first player EVER to be heckled by an opposing fan (he was from Marshalltown, correct?).
Everybody from Marshalltown has a mullet.

Seems like a non-issue to me. I guess the best player in the state should get treated specially by opposing fans because of the possibility of going to their favorite collegiate team.
I'm not saying it's right, just saying that's how it is.

Everybody from Marshalltown has a mullet. Maybe now they do. Both my parents grew up in M-town and said 30 years ago it was very white collar....they did both admit though it has gone way down hill since.

I grew up in a small town "near" Marshalltown and it's always been predominantly blue-collar, with Lennox, Fischer Controls and a host of other manufacturing entities. Your grandfather(s) might have been management, but that town's always had an edge!
Note: It was a treat to play hoops at the "Roundhouse" and M-Town had the best Maid Rite in the world!

I hated playing in "Roundhouses" M-towns and DSM Lincoln...shooting background always threw me off a bit.
