Fizer or Brackins, who the better player during Sophomore Year
I have to say Fizer and in that regards Brackins needs to stay one more year...........This is due to Brackins decision making at some of his shots he takes which are head scratchers at times...............Fizer has to have a much better shooting percentage in his sophomore year...................
I hope McDermott says this to Brackins that Fizer who left after his Junior year, which was a mistake on his part as he was barely in the NBA........................

I wasn't old enough to watch Fizer play. But I'd still have to go with him. CB needs to play bigger and take over the game more.

Brackins is more of a finesse guy offensively and Fizer was more power. Tough to compare different styles of play unless you do it strictly on statistics which don't necessarily directly relate to how important of a player you are.
Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

Fizer shot 45% his sophomore year, Brackins about 49%.

Re: Fizer or Brackins, who the better player during Sophomore Year
I don't think Fizer not staying in the NBA was a result of him leaving early. I'd like to think a player would develop better on an NBA team than a college team, so if you are good enough to be drafted high, you should leave. The reason Fizer didn't make it was because he kept getting injured and was undersized.

Re: Fizer or Brackins, who the better player during Sophomore Year
It's hard to say who is the better player as a sophomore because they played on very different teams. Fizer did not look as dominant because he had a strong supporting cast he could rely on. Brackins' stats are maybe more prolific, but they have to be because he has no supporting cast. I would go with Fizer because he could step up and score or deliver plays when needed in crunch time. Brackins has disapppeared in crunch time in several games.
As far as Fizer leaving early, I don't think it was a mistake. Had he stayed for his senior year he would not have been drafted any higher than he was, and it's not like he was one-year-and-out with no more chances -- he would have been a bust in the NBA regardless of when he went.
Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good. Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better. Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step. My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk,superdorf, clones_jer. That is all. -

Fizer did not make a bad decision leaving early. He was drafted 4th overall. It's not like he could know his career was going to take the path it did.

6'5" power players don't tend to have long NBA careers. 6'10" guys with CB's ability tend to last longer.

I still don't think Fizer was a bust. He didn't live up to his potential, but a large part of that was the injury. He still averaged about 10 pts, 5 rebounds, which is a decent contributor. His career stats are better than Hoiberg's (in general) and no one thinks of him as a bust. Not that I think he had a better career than Hoiberg, but he averaged more points and rebounds.

You don't draft a player 4th to average 10 and 5. I get what you are saying though. He showed flashes of being a really good player.

I sure wish Hoiberg could have played longer too. He was really coming on and had a niche in Minnesota. I hope his front office career takes off.
