The guy who only played in like 20 games as a Cyclone? Because I would have to rank him near the bottom.
1. Brackins (not really a center)
2. Fizer (not really a center)
3. Cato (never saw him play much, but I've seen clips, and he was good)
4. Homan
5. Hubalek
6. Shirley
7. Meyers (never saw him play)
8. Alexander (wasn't that good) Not sure you know what you are talking about here Sparky, Victor was one heck of a ball player.
Find it hard that you claim he "wasn't that good" but you rate Cato and Loren Meyer with never seeing them play.
Big Vic played before both of them. Considering that both Brackins and Fizer are forwards - and actually having seen them all play, I would say Victor was the best offensive player of the group - by far and the same could be said for Cato on the defensive end.

Re: Rate the centers
1. Don Smith, easily the best ever.
2. Dean Utoff, Best rebounder
3. Victor Alexander
4. Homan
5. Meyer
The rest don't really even compare.

In his defense he had the wrong alexander

Re: Rate the centers
1. Fizer (we won with him)
2. Cato (we won with him too)
3. Homan (He held our last NCAA team together)
4. Alexander
5. Meyers
6. Shirley
7. Hubalek (Morgan ruined him, otherwise he might be higher)

Someone who actually knows a little about ISU basketball history.

6. Hubalek This is pretty close to what I was thinking.... maybe swap Homan and Vroman.... maybe not. I'll go with this list, nice work.
Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

I can't believe how many people don't even list Vroman... he HAS to be on that list.

Re: Rate the centers
No Waldo Wegner? ISU's first basketball All-American, and there's no mention? He also played every minute of his three year career except for the first half of his first game. I can remember giving him a standing ovation at one game--must have been 1998.
Also--I'm waiting for Tony Rampton to check in with his thoughts.

There are not many crowds or places in the country that have a better impact on the game than at Iowa State. The Cyclone fans are truly a sixth man. The place is so loud and always a fantastic crowd." - Former Kansas and current North Carolina head coach Roy Williams -

Re: Rate the centers
I'll throw Ron Virgil on the list as a whimsical semi-sarcastic post.
He played center-like defense at 6'4" against 6'11" All-American Michigan star Roy Tarpley that helped win the game that put ISU MBB on the national map.
