Rhoads Wins=McD MUST WIN!!!!

Does anyone else feel that if CPR is successful (meaning at least 5 wins this fall) that there is EXTREME pressure on McD to at leat be in the top half of the BIGXII? If we don't finish in the top half he should bo gone! No excuse (other than coaching) that you shouldn't win with the same class back 3 years in row

If anything, the HCPR hire gave HCGM more time. ISU cannot afford to hire and fire. IMHO, HCGM has two more years with or without success.

There's big pressure on McDermott next year, regardless of the football program. Especially if Brackins comes back. There's literally no excuses anymore. In theory, he will have all the pieces to be successful. One way or another, we will find out a lot about McD and our basketball program next year. I personally can't wait.

And what if Brackins doesn't come back? Is everyone here going to stand up for Greg when the team sucks for the 4th straight year saying, "he lost his best player! It's not his fault!" (in little-kid-with-speech-impediment voice). Greg is out of excuses. Johnny Orr went from nothing to tournament in 3 years. If Brackins leaves, I bet we will be worse next year than we are this year, and sucking for 4 straight years is unacceptable for ISU basketball. I don't give a flying **** WHAT the excuse is.

HB is his "Get out of Jail: Free" Card. If he bags HB, all bets are off.

ISU budget = NO money for buy outs and new contracts. JP wants to finish the football stadium and Hilton. He doesnt' want to waste money on paying off coaches.

I agree. If ISUHVFCPR has a good season, it will take some of the pressure off ISUHVMBCGMcD because at least we fans will have one sport to enjoy. But the clock will still be ticking for ISUHVMBCGMcD, he only has a few "first years" left.

Seriously though, I think calling Paul Rhoads "CPR" is stupid. HCPR is cool though. :rolleyes: Me, I prefer to type and speak his full name, every time... Iowa State University Head Varsity Football Coach Paul Rhoads.

Having a successful football program is infinitely more important to the financial well-being of the athletic department. IMO, if Rhoads can win some games, starting with this season, then that will take some pressure off McDermott.

Makes sense. Any minimal improvement in football should carry over to a top10 basketball team, because the sports are just that similar.
