Re: ESPN has Gilstrap as #26 in his class, and #2 Juco.
It was really a situation where we could take a chance...WJ leaves a hole, but we want HB...Needed to fill a hole for one year...Hopefully we never see that situation again. Mac trusts his assistants and connections...nothing wrong with that.

If you think back...Mac was chasing HB around the country at the time.

Unless you play on the Texas WBB team.

Actually...you're both wrong:
A)Coach D-Rob and TJ watched Gilstrap at a juco showcase in Georgia.
B) G-Mac did see the tape from the showcase prior to the offer being extended, and also watched from Gilstrap's first stint in juco, and had a significant hand in Gilstrap being offered and committing.

So did Gilstrap lie? B/c when he committed he said that he had never met G-Mac

I never said he met G-Mac......
Re: ESPN has Gilstrap as #26 in his class, and #2 Juco.
I hope he makes a huge impact, as he needs to. I think Brackins will stay, do you think he is physical enough for the NBA yet? Brackins that is.
Re: ESPN has Gilstrap as #26 in his class, and #2 Juco.
Hey cyismydog did you happen to catch the Gmac show this week? Because they featured colvin and gilstrap, they both looked great in the highlights and Gmac had a lot of good things to say about them. I cant wait till they get here.

You said he a hand on the committment, which would be hard considering he never met him

Hmmm.....he made the final decision to offer him, Gilstrap really liked the program constructed by Coach Mcdermott. He also talked to him on the phone right before he committed, if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the tip...I'm going to go watch it right now.

Seems like a dumb thing to argue about. Whether or not McDermott had anything personally to do with recruiting Marquis, it all comes back to him. If McDermott has assistants that are good at finding talent and convincing them to reside in Ames, then that's a good job out of him. In the end, McDermott is responsible for who is here and what happens on the floor -- good or bad.

I completely agree and I am pretty sure I am wording what I am trying to say incorrectly.
Hamilton was a great find by GMAC and shows his ability to eye talent. Gilstrap is a good job out of the assistants for finding the talent (or Horton). GMAC hired the assistants and therefore gets the credit, I was just replying to Aclone that the two situations were different
