They could ask the same question that I do after some of our bad losses: what happens if we had worked for better shots? We're kind of similar in that we rely on the 3 a lot too....but the big difference is Baylor has a group of great perimeter players, that all have the ability to attack the basket through dribble penetration...where as Garrett is our only threat at getting to the hoop.

Re: Win question
Baylor beat providence? Wow that is impressives, wasn't providence the team that beat #1 Pitt last night. And by quite a few if I remember correctly. Hmm, I will agree Baylor was very passive, and after watching the Pitt game, play on both teams, Baylor and ISU, looked terrible. I would hate to say it but there were alot of mistakes and missed opportunities left out on the floor. This does not mean I am calling for the coach, it goes back to the players, at one point I saw Brakins standing around on defense. But i'm getting off topic.

Also, if I'm a Baylor fan, I would absolutely be livid at the gameplan the Bears came in with last night. They were very passive on offense and didn't push the ball against us at all. Never really tried.
Baylor allowed us to dictate the tempo and to our credit, we did that well. That's true. Baylor could have won this game with a different game plan. They are WAY more talented than we are at this point.

Re: Win question
Heck yeah this was a good win for the guys. We really needed a win like that. Controlled the second half too....that hasn't happened all year. Now what needs to happen next is to get a road win. This has NOT happened. We all feel all good and dandy now....and deservidly so...beat a tourney team from last year...spoiled a lot that Baylor was needing.....plus our players played well at Hilton....where we should be winning almost all of our games there......but now we need a good little road win. Hell, why not 2 in a row.
IF this occured...I would feel a ton better about next season...and the direction.....but I still think a road win needs to happen.

Re: Win question
At this point we needed to control a game against ANY team, and get a win against almost anyone. The Cyclones did that and we should take it as a W and be happy because we may not get many more this season.

ASU is ranked #14 and clearly in the tourney, and Providence just beat the #1 team, and is on the bubble. Keno's team is 9-7 in arguably the best, and most certainly the deepest conference in the country. They're guaranteed at least a .500 record in conference. I think that puts them well above "the bubble".

For our win I will say this is one of the few top 100 teams we've beaten the last 3 years so it could be arguably one of our best wins of the last 3 years.

Loads of talent but completely undisciplined.
What was some of the garbage that Dunn kept throwing up there? Wow, that was ugly.

Re: Win question
I don't think this was a break through win by any means, what I am happy about is the WAY in which we won this game.
We had 19 bench points, Brackins only had 19 points...and then our supporting cast, came through. 10 out of Diante and Petey, and 9 by Lucca. That is balance, that is what will win games for ISU.
It did help that we made 10 three pointers.
I'm happy to see a complete game from ISU, we haven't played this well since Oklahoma (which we could have beat them without Griffin also).
Anyway, its a nice confidence boost for our guys, would love to see this sort of balanced attack to finish the year.
I love me some Jethros BBQ!

What if we win the next 3 games? This COULD be a breakthrough win IF it gets us on a roll. So far we havent been able to string two in a row. Maybe this will be it. One can hope dont you think?

Re: Win question
It was a good win. I think ISU can have a nice run to finishe the Season.
Our problem is that if we are not hot, we will not win.

Re: Win question
Good win, maybe not great, but that was as much fun as I have had watching a game in Hilton this season.

I have a question about the win. This isn't meant as a jab at anyone, or to stir things up, but to generate some thought and discussion. (I'll probably slap myself now.)
I've read about how GMac doesn't have wins over more talented teams. Last night, Baylor was more experienced (started 4 seniors and 1 junior), more talented, a team that went to the NCAAs last year, and a team that had everything to play for last night (i.e. trying to get back to the dance, as hard as that is from their position).
Does this count as the kind of win people are looking for? I think people are looking for what is typically called a "signature win"...a win against someone that you are clearly not supposed to beat. A win like Johnny got against a top 10 Missouri squad in his third year. A win like Providence got over #1 Pitt last night. A win against a Baylor team with a conference record that is barely better than our own just does not make the grade.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.
