Why Gilstrap is so hyped:

Go to the home page on Cyclones.com, and there's an almost three minute highlight video of Gilstrap that's extremely impressive. It's free. He's long, athletic, shoots the three, shoots the mid-range J off the dribble, uses the back-board, and has a couple nasty put-back dunks to boot.

From what someone told me, we may not even get one out of him. Apparrently he is looking at putting his name into the draft pool. I hope that is not true, but this person does have some pretty good sources. I know Juco's have done it before, but usually it is because they are 7 ft tall or don't have the grades to make it and just give it a try.

Would be a bad decision on his part if true. When was the last time a JUCO guy went pro, got drafted, and panned out?

Not saying your source isn't good, just saying that it wouldn't be wise on Gilstrap's part if true

I really think this would be a bad idea. There are questions about whether Brackins should leave early. If he is as good as people say, a year in the Big12 will improve is draft position greatly.

He could try for another year. I wouldn't put much hope in it though.

If he really is as good as people like cimd think, what would be the harm in him declaring and not hiring an agent til he gets some feedback? He's got a kid, and if he thought he could get drafted and get some money out of it, he can't be at fault for taking a look.

I agree with you. As a father, he'd probably be at fault for not taking a look.

Lets keep in mind there is not much defense being played at that level. Heck, the defense almost looks lazy in the video.

Why should it matter that he is coming from JUCO? If he is good enough then it won't matter where he comes from.

C.J Bruton and Earnest Brown both decided to bypass ISU and go directly from JUCO to the NBA. Didn't pan out for either of them.

I love that pull-up jumper for three! Looks like something we see so much every game...the thing is it's always the other team doing it to us. I can't wait til we have that person that can step up and knock down that three when the shot-clock is running down.
