I think it is good that she spoke out. Hopefully it will slow down the motormouths who really have nothing to say and more than enough time to say it.
It is also intriguing to me because it points out that players' parents are listening and watching. I wonder what her screen name is on here?
If she wanted to she probably could have gone farther. If she felt that the rumors affected her son or cast him in a negative light she might have ground for a lawsuit. I don't know if she would win, but it definately would put pressure on them and would keep her son's name out of the media.
