well, sort of. he already had a full ride academic scholly to my understanding so there was no point in giving him another full ride. just good luck that it freed up one for another player. i believe they ended up his senior year giving him an athletic scholarship mostly as a sign of appreciation of his talent and we had one to give...maybe I am wrong on some of this but not the first part.

I think they had to give Shirley a athletic scholarship at some point or at least count him as an athletic scholarship because he played so much. Some kind of rule to prevent schools from stockpiling lots of players on full-ride "academic" schollies.

Hornacek might be the best walkon of all time, any school. He's in a league of his own.
