Re: Expansion of NCAA tournament
One problem I see with expanding the field is that the Major teams would not have to have any kind of strength of schedule to make the tourney. This would lead to everyone scheduling patsies just to win games. Now, if a High Major has enough wins, but not the SOS, they don't make the 65 as an at large. With 128, a lot more High Majors would get in.

Re: Expansion of NCAA tournament
I realize this would take the fun out of conference tournaments for the most part...but if they are going to do anything with postseason basketball...why not let the regular season champion of each conference get the automatic berth instead of the conference tourney champion...
They are basically telling teams that work their butts off to win their small conference in the course of two months..."You were the best team in the conference over the course of two months, but if you have one off shooting day in your conference tourney against a team you outperformed for 2 months...they are going to the NCAA tourney and your going to the NIT".
Just my opinion, I realize I'm probably in the minority on that.

Re: Expansion of NCAA tournament
This is a worse idea than doubling the number of contestants on Rock of Love with Bret Michaels. If you have that many participants, some of them will have jobs and IQs above 90. You can't scrape the bottom of the barrel like that and expect a good show.

Re: Expansion of NCAA tournament
I don't necessarily think that it would make the regular season or conference tourneys obsolete, but it certainly would make the "bubble" discussion obsolete. Sorry - I just can't get excited about the "last 4 in-last 8 out" conversation when we're talking about teams with sub-.500 records.

Do we realy want to see the top 4 teams from BCS Major conferences beating up on more little guys? There are really good teams who do not excel in conference play who can go on a tear and win in the tourney.

Re: Expansion of NCAA tournament
I agreed with what Miller said about 95%. I think it'd actually be cool seeing two teams of the same conference going up against each other in the first or second round. He sure loves to bring up Iowa St. vs. Hampton a lot though...

Just my opinion, I realize I'm probably in the minority on that. I could vote for regular season champs getting a better shot at the at large bids.

I just like the excitement that the underdog teams bring to this tournament.....
Football is a Joke, like we saw this year....the National Match-up was made up by the media, not by performance on the field...
