There are 341 NCAA Division I Basketball Teams. Currently only 65 make the NCAA Tournament which is 19.1%. Expanding the field to 128 still only means that 37.5% make the playoffs. That still leaves a lower percentage than all sports other than Major League Baseball. I would definitely be in favor of expanding the field if the NIT, College Basketball Invitational (CBI), and the CollegeInsider.com Tournament were disbanded. there is always some math major that does his homework, and makes sense.... Nice Job
Now go to work on a selection process......? That maybe more difficult,.
I do not have the answer, so many varibles......(In 5 years their could be another 50 D1 schools)

Re: Expansion of NCAA tournament
Since someone is figuring these percentages. How many teams finished the season with records 2 games over .500?

Re: Expansion of NCAA tournament
No what you do is seed all the teams in the bracket. Then you take the last 4 in and first 4 out. Then you say this match up winner is an 11 in this region and so forth

Re: Expansion of NCAA tournament
Hey, why not! Post season play in MBB is a much more difficult thing to attain than post season play in CFB. The mediocre coaches in MBB deserve the same breaks that the mediocre CFB coaches get...don't they?

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes. -
Re: Expansion of NCAA tournament
I hope they never do that. All that would do is start to reward teams that had average seasons. It would be good for mid major teams but who cares about them on this site?
