Re: Its next year for McDermott or else

McDermott would be much better off if he had legit scholarship guys playing instead of the seniors he's been forced to play now. Insert a guy like Dodie Dunson and another scholarship big man who's a sophomore or junior and we'd be a lot better. Even losing Wesley Johnson.

Re: Its next year for McDermott or else

    1) u said that ur glad the season is over???? so if we won today, u wouldve been upset that we were playing in the quarterfinals of the BIG 12 TOURNEY??? i dnt understand that. ik tough season but i was really hoping we would win this one

    2) You want Mac to recruit some hardnosed ballers that penetrate. Im not sure cuz ive only seen about 7 highlight tapes but Chris Colvin penetrates very very well and is still killer with his shot Marquis Gilstrap: ive only seen one highlight tape and read only about 10 articles on him but he can dunk like no other and scores 30 a night consistently in JUCO with great shooting and spectacular dunks and strength

    3) sometimes people like WJ Craig and MT, are considered very athletic players and im not 100% sure but i think McD brought them in. maybe not him speciffically recruiting him only but he sure had ALOT to do with it. even Diante is a good athlete and DB and Cam and Dodie Dunson was a decent athlete.

    4) sorry for the long post and im not very sure about my information on this so ya.....

dnt say he not bringing in good athletes......WOW

I agree. The so-called fan spouts the same crap on different boards. This guy is less significant than a grain of sand in the universe. Just noise pollution.

Next year we are getting some HUGE talent upgrades. No offense to Haluska and Thompson but they aren't athletic at all. I will miss Petey, I think he could have been a quality backup PG for us next year. I am really looking forward to seeing Colvin and Gilstrap play next year.

I don't know about that...you see alot of new coaches come in and retain recruits. Who did OSU lose last year after Ford came in? It sure seems like OU did fine after Sampson left. Turegon struggled last year...but he at least didn't lose players and recruits. I realize Marquette highered within, but he didn't lose a single player. Huggins kept everyone at WVU and now they are a tournament team.

Moral of this story is I will never believe McD did everything he could to get these guys to stay. I don't care what you have to do...make some concessions and keep them on their roster. He walked in from day one with this my way or the high way attitude, and clearly it is doing something to **** off all kinds of players, and the guys he can get to buy in (save CB) are clearly not athletic enough to make us competitive.

Things were tough when he got there, but please don't act like players fleeing a program is a natural reaction anytime a new coach comes in.

Dude, Dodie Dunson doesn't even PLAY for Iowa State!

He transfered to the Missouri Valley...evidently that is where the "legit" scholarship players go.

While he was at it, GMac should've thrown the ball to Blythe more, started Tiller over Arnaud, kept Bates from transferring and then started him over Tiller, and finished the east side of the JTS renovations prior to the '08 season.

Yes and that is part of coaching... having/getting/RETAINING "legit scholarship guys"

Oh, I thought Dodie still played here.

He was just an example. Yes, we'd be better off with a guy averaging 10 PPG for Bradley than using Sean Haluska. What an outrageous claim on my part.

i think you might have read his post wrong

he was saying that he wishes that we had dodie because he is a good player

im not quite sure but i think he was implying IF......IF we had dodie dunson we could be a little better. he was a scholarship player that would CONTRIBUTE. He would be a legit scholarship player now. he could shoot very well

It's not normal. It's not normal for a coach to come into the mess Mac was handed.

It's going to be all right. Just relax.

You're right. However it is not the coach's fault that MT was an idiot and Wesley got bad advice from his AAU coach.

Yeah, that Tom Crean at Indiana must really suck, too. He couldn't keep any players and is going with all walk-ons this year. All he had to do was keep all his players from leaving and he wouldn't be in this mess.
