One steal?!?!?!

We had one steal last night. One steal!

Where's the defense?!?!?!?!

Defense isn't designed to get steals. We're one of the last teams in the NCAA in forcing turnovers. It's a choice as much as anything, it's designed to keep guys in front of you and make them take tough shots.

The defense was limiting shots. Just because we dont steal doesnt mean they didnt play defense. However, it would be nice if we got a good steal player. It would help our forcing of turnovers for sure.

We have been at or near the bottom of the entire NCAA in steals all year. Both a function of the "pack-it-in, don't take too many chances" defensive style we play and also the lack of quick hands and feet of many of our players.

I recall a year or two ago when Rahshon Clark narrowly missed a steal versus A&M. Coach benched him and then chastised him in the post-game saying he shouldn't be going for steals unless he was 100% sure he could get it.

We don't deny passing lanes and don't take chances so we aren't going to get steals. I think this is one reason that Mac doesn't like Boozer's D. Watching him play he was obviously tought to anticipate passes and deny passing lanes, something that is probably hard to relearn...

This may change somewhat when players with more speed come in. If you get burnt by going for a steal and the opposition flies by you with the ball and scores..youll sit the bench. Our guys have to have the ability to recover if they miss the steal.

I don't think so... I think this is one of Mac's 'rules' that won't change, no matter how much we upgrade the talent.

We get beat off the drouble enough the way it is. Getting out of position would only lead to more lay-ups.

Maybe, but if someone goes off ****** and can prove themselves to be a threat in this manner, you dont think he will give them some elbow room?

That's where defensive rotation is 'supposed' to step up and allow recovery... but who knows...

What is wrong with you people? What's wrong with aggressive defense? Look at our record, a little change of philosophy would help tremendously. What do have to lose?

What have we turned into? I can't believe this... Does anyone remember how many easy baskets we got after Tinsley steals? If we're just going to "pack it in" and hope for the best, why even play?

Don't get stressed man. A lot of McDermott Sheep here. They'll start defending why we didn't go for an offensive rebound all season either.
