    Re: Marcus Paige

Ive never seen him take an outside shot. he's very good at penetrating and drawing the foul. Obviously his shot needs to get better but its not bad, and it can be taught. He would've been the best defender for LM and is the second best for Ames. He's got the quickest first step on the floor whenever he plays. That cant be taught.
Obviosly alot of that was opinion, but not unfounded.

Maybe? You definitely should take off your glasses. The kid is a NICE player and that is all. I watched Ames beat Johnston by 40+ w/o Bubu and then watched them win by 15 or so w/ him. Does that mean everything? No, but Ames wins the title w/ or w/o him this year. And he is to small and not good enough of a shooter to be D1.

Tinsley, Hollaway, Stinson, Garrett were/are all poor shooters at ISU Bubu will get bigger. I hope he gets a chance to prove you wrong. I know it won't be at ISU. Maybe Drake or UNI will take a chance on him.

I think it's its funny how Bigguns is saying "i think" before everything he says and all you guys keep taking it as tho he's telling you what to believe.
I think Bubu played his *** off and deserves more looks than he's getting. I wish ISU would take a chance on him, it would be nice to have a player that doesnt try to bore the defense to sleep then take the first open 3(other than brackins) and miss it. I think he has more potential than petey does, or did, especially if he hits the weight room. and the reason he isnt in the weight room isnt because of any decision he made.
The last sentence is a fact not an opinion.

I'll give you more facts Petey can shoot maybe you are looking for more point guards like him. Oh wait Jake played PG for 1 year he could really fill it up maybe we need a PG like that. If you haven't got the connection when we had quick, tough, hard nosed, slashing leaders at PG(like Bubu Palo) we had some pretty good teams. When we had scorers at PG we have kind of SUCKED. I know that both those guys were forced to play out of position and appreciate the sacrifice that they made for ISU. You think Bubu can't play D1 basketball, I think he can. Again I hope he proves you(and a lot of coaches) wrong.

Tinsley and Stinson were poor shooters? I don't remember them being that bad at all. And those dudes were 6'3" and 6'2" respectively. And as far as BuBu and D1 basketball, BuBu played a nice championship game. But scholarships are way too precious to give one to BuBu. Personally I would take Buckley or DG over BuBu. You need to realize that BuBu was playing against Linn Mar. And against a freshman. And had the best weapon playing on his team, Harrison Barnes. BuBu can prove everyone wrong but we won't be offering him a scholarship to ISU. I will go out on a limb and say that Ames repeats without BuBu at PG.

First, Bubu Palo is a nice Iowa high school point guard on a great team, just like many others who have come before him. I'm guessing there is a reason he's not being recruited by most D1 schools. Especially when there are 4 D1 schools in his home state and he's playing with a top 5 recruit who has every respectable college coach in the country watching his open gyms. Not as if he's flying under the radar.

Second, a lot of players would look really nice at the point with the likes of Harrison Barnes and Doug McD on their squad. Let's be honest...there's not a single team in the county that would focus any of their defensive attention on this kid.

Third, comparisons to Paige are apples to oranges when comparing a freshman to a senior. I'd hope Bubu is quicker than a 14 year old. Do you have any idea how much strength, quickness, and athleticism comes between a kids freshman and senior years in high school? Long story short, I'll take Paige in 3 years versus Bubu now and there seems to be a few respected basketball minds that agree with me. There's a reason he already has offers from several D1 schools who are coached by people who are undeniably more adept at scouting talent then you are.

You didn't give me one fact, so I have no idea what you are talking about. You said that Stinson and Tinsley were bad shooters. Not entirely true. They weren't great shooters but they could make an outside jumper

Those two were 6'2 and build much much better than Bubu. They were stronger, better dribblers, better passers, smarter players, and quicker (yes quicker).

To try and compare them to Bubu is idiotic. The kid isn't even going to play bball in college from the sounds of it. It sounds like he is a soccer player

The only way you can say that Tinsley and Stinson weren't poor stooters is because you never saw them play or you don't know what a good shooter is. I used to cringe along with the rest of Hilton every time they shot, grumble when they missed, and sigh with relief every time they banked one in. That being said I wish we had a point guard with all their qualities now. I see those qualities in Bubu. I think for anyone to say that Bubu is not D1 caliber on a fans message board is very arrogant. I trust the Coaches but also realize that some times good things can be right under your nose an be over looked. Kylan Loney is a great example of that. ISU passed on her all she did was have a great career at Arizona St. ISU didn't offer her if they had she would have jumped all over it. I am sure if asked Coach Fennelly would say he missed out or miss judged her talent. Bubu is 6'1" and 17 he could easily end up 6'2.

Every coach misses on guys (and girls). Every coach also has the right to recruit the players he wants.

Bubu isn't getting passed on by ISU to go to ASU. ASU is in a BCS conference and has had some success in WBB. Where is Bubu going that is a comparable school to ASU?

It's not just Mac that is passing on him, it's pretty much every other BCS coach, and as has been pointed out it's not like he's underexposed playing with Harrison.

For the record Blalock shot 43.5% from three his freshman year and 40% from three his junior year, and his freshman year % still stands as the 7th best 3pt shooting % year in ISU history. Might want to check your facts.

So we should have passed on Colvin and Gilstrap and taken BuBu? Sorry. No thanks.

The Ames PG is just not that good. Did he ever shake Paige to get to the hoop? Sure, the wiry little freshmen got picked off a few times and Bubu got to the rack, but he's not a recruit that ISU needs.

I didn't mention Blalock as a poor shooter. I would say he was one of the best guards to ever play for ISU.
