That's why he needs to go to Iowa State.

Anyone who says "we didn't want him", in regards to Barnes is an absolute ******* idiot. Harrison Barnes would rejuvenate this program single handedly. We need him, BAD. If Greg McDermott can't lock up a hometown kid, who plays ball with his son, who grew up cheering for ISU his entire life, whose mom works for ISU, then... GMac losing Barnes would be like going 0-16 in the Big 12. It would be that damaging to GMac's credibility, IMO.

I'm just waiting for the response, "Well, Duke offered him." I don't give a ****. We have advantages a mile long with him, and should be able to find a way to get him to stay here. I don't care who else came calling...

Re: Cyclone Fans Really Want HB
There have been many examples of "hometown" kids going elsewhere because of various reasons. I'll give you Jon Scheyer for example. He was between Illinois and Duke and everyone thought he should have gone to Illinois. Scheyer's high school coach is the brother of Illinois head coach Bruce Weber, so that alone was a huge connection for Illinois. In the end Scheyer chose Duke. I wouldn't blame Harrison at all if he went to Duke and it would be ridiculous if anyone blamed McDermott if he went there.

Yep, GMac needs to get him.... If he doesn't....just shows me that he will never get a player of this caliber...ever. This is his best chance....and better not blow it.

Give me an example of Weber losing a recruit from Champaign - then we can talk.

His mom works for ISU. He's grown up a Cyclone and gone to countless games at Hilton in his life. He plays with McDermott's son. Comparing this to Scheyer is apples to oranges.

Re: Cyclone Fans Really Want HB
I really don't think the hometown thing matters as much as some people think. In the end Barnes will choose the school that is the best for him and location will probably barely factor into his decision.
