Best ISU NCAA Tournament game

My pick would be the 1992 2nd ISU/Kentucky game even though it was a loss. Thigpen and Bayless played great and had little trouble with the Kentucky press.

Also, I don't remember the exact quote, but before the game Pitino was blowing smoke that ISU should be favored. Orr said something like Kentucky recruits players who wouldn't even return my phone calls.

Agreed. I remember Jim Rome saying UCLA was going to work the 'Clones and I swear 5:00 in to the game Earl Watson was tugging on his shorts because he was gassed.

Yep. Especially since ISU had a history of losing to UCLA in the NCAA tournament before that game. And the way UCLA put down Maryland the game prior, makes it all better.

easily my favorite. both teams were playing great, but hardly anyone was giving us a chance to be in the game, let alone win it. i still watch it from time to time. UCLA had nothing for us.

That was my pick as well. I guess I will be the first to say the next game should have been the greatest game in ISU history.

I went up to Minneapolis for the first and second round games that year. Saw ISU beat Central Connecticut State and just tear Auburn up (Porter was ineligible). But during that session, it was what UCLA did to Maryland that dropped my jaw. I was scared of them after that game. Then we ripped UCLA. I was happy.

When ISU beat Michigan, I was 11 years old. I still remember how the announcers were calling it a practice for Michigan as they built an early lead. Then ISU stormed away with a win.
