Quote from Paul Rhoads
"It's not the kids that you lose in recruiting that hurt you," Rhoads said. "It's the kids that you get that you miss on. Everybody loses kids to somebody else, but the ones that you get that you weren't right on, that you didn't evaluate correctly, those are the ones that really get you."
I think this is awfully applicable here, and summarizes the McD era fairly well. We all hope this ship gets turned around and we all know it has to start with getting better players.
Edit: And KEEPING said players.

Re: Quote from Paul Rhoads
Yea that does sum it up pretty good and Knowing Coach Mac has realized it and is doing things to make changes makes me feel a lot better about the future

Re: Quote from Paul Rhoads
To loosely quote President Obama when talking about the economy...."This isn't a speed boat that can easily turn around, rather an ocean liner that will take time."
The same can be said with the basketball program.

I think it's safe to say at this point we're trying to turn that ocean liner with paddles while being shot at by the Somali pirates - It's taking longer than we'd all like and we've lost some good men out there.

True, but GMac admitted that he was recruiting the wrong kids for the Big 12. If the deflections are done, I expect the program to move up from this point forth. I think GMac was shell shocked at what it really meant to coach in the Big 12. I think he's starting to get it and like a good CEO, he's cutting the 'dead weight'.

These two signed last year...

The same can be said with the basketball program. Obama is evil

I don't remember it being that long ago, but either way, he couldn't just drop everyone and hope to get better talent at the last minute. We need depth terribly bad and he brought kids in. Look at who is coming in now. That's why I'm really not concerned about GMac's recruiting anymore.

Re: Quote from Paul Rhoads
Honestly, I would have loved to keep Eikmeyer. I think he could have been a contributor if he stayed. The fact that they wanted to redshirt him means that they thought he could play. Otherwise they would want to wipe his scholarship from the books as soon as possible.

Re: Quote from Paul Rhoads
This is basketball it doesnt take 5 years to turn a program around look at Oklahoma State. I'm sick of all the bs excuses we better win next year with or with out Brackins or McDermott needs to be fired.
He has not judged talent or the character and toughness of players correctly and has failed to movtivate the players he that havent transfered.
