Can we trade DG for Ezell or Lacey?
I am obviously not serious, well I don't think I am, but they handled the ball really well, slashed to the hoop, and made some 3's. Both played outstanding games. This isn't new, but the women's success rallied around guard play last night. They had no inside game and yet they won. The men's team lack abilities in the guard position and I hope Colvin can help redefine our team. Imagine how much better the men would be if we had a Ty Lawson or even a J.T. Tiller to complement Brackins. Someone to create for themselves and others. Great guards are essential for successful teams and I just don't know if ISU is setting themselves up too well beyond Colvin. Especially with the recent transfers and Kadima checking out. I am worried about the direction of the team in regards to the 1 and 2. Thoughts?

To me you can and should be happy and proud of the girls without dragging the guys down at the same time...

I don't want to trade DG. I'd trade Ezell or Lacey for Lucca but not my buddy DG.

Re: Can we trade DG for Ezell or Lacey?
I will give DG some credit. He got better from last year. He took care of the ball better this year. He played aggressive against OU (or at least took advantage of his opportunities more). I believe he can be a good player for us but will need to be less passive and drive to the basket or work on a pull up jumper. The guy is a 6-4 guard and could be a mismatch for a lot of teams. I don't like comparing players or playing styles and realize that some are better than others, but Sherron Collins is 5-11 and averages 19 ppg vs DG's 10. If we could get that type of production out of a guard we would be in better shape. I dunno, hope for the best and see what happens.

Like you said, he needs to be more aggressive. As he's surrounded by more athletic players, I think this will be easier for him.
If he can be more aggressive and finish stronger, he can really turn into a nice player.

If he can be more aggressive and finish stronger, he can really turn into a nice player. DG's problem is that he can't shoot. You can get better, but I do not think he'll ever be all that good. He'd really need to do some serious work on it this offseason. He doesn't have good form on his shot, as he tends to short-arm instead of follow through.
My understanding is that in high school DG was a driver/finisher. In HS all that's needed is a decent handle. In the Big 12, you have to be bigger and more athletic than he is to do this. He needs to put on more weight and just get mentally tough. I think he loses focus easy and his effort suffers when he isn't doing well.
I don't drink the Kool-Aid, and I am done making excuses. Only keeping it real...
