MBB Big 12 Predictions
WIth "The Brack" back in Ames for his Junior campaign, where do you see our Cyclones finishing in the Big 12?
It is year four with McDermott. This team must get to the post-season....we all would prefer the big dance. I see the Clones finishing no lower than 6th in the Conference.....and we should be aiming for getting in the Top 4. (Heck, we should be doing that all the time.)
My pick though....we finish 5th, and get a 7 Seed in the NCAA Tourney.....and even with that....I would be happy, and glad that we had a good little year.

Re: MBB Big 12 Predictions
Typically we finish about one place better than the preseason B12 coaches pull.
I see us finishing 8th.
There is a lot of talent returning and coming in next year across the league.
IMO, picking us at 5 or better is crazy.

Re: MBB Big 12 Predictions
I think we finish somewhere between 5th and 7th. We still have issues in the back court to iron out. Brackins can't do it alone, as we saw this past year.

6-9th.
There's a lot of talent returning in the Big 12, and, on the whole, the basketball fans here are always too optimistic.

I'm just happy we have a chance to be successful next year. The last couple years we knew before the season started it wasn't going to be pretty.

I'll be thrilled if we're sixth. Obviously, teams are going to gameplan us to make someone besides Brackins beat us, and we are yet to know if there is someone who can do that. Our defense should be solid and keep us in games; I don't see a reason why that would change.
I think the over/under on wins should be 19.5.

I think the over/under on wins should be 19.5. We have five and a half new guys coming in next year in SC, L.A.P, CC, MG, LD and Craig I'll count as half since I expected him to be gone.
If we can do something as simple as make more shots and get to the FT line, we win twenty games. We lost a handful of games on the margins last year that can be easily correctable.

It sounds silly to say that we will be better if we can make more shots, but that is the truth. We know what we'll get from CB, someone needs to be a consistent outside threat, preferably for the bulk of the entire season.
I've said all along that we easily should have had won four more games last year. I know it is "ifs and buts", but we had no business losing to SDSU and Hawaii...we don't lose that type of game next year, IMO. I know that 20 wins doesn't mean what it used to, but I'll be happy if I see that next year.

Re: MBB Big 12 Predictions
I think we'll finish 6th and have a good shot at making the tourney if a.) we take care of the preseason and b.) pull off a couple quality wins in the conference.
In my humble opinion, we're very similar to last year but are trading Petey for Gilstrap. To say that is an upgrade is an understatement. If someone like Chistopherson can give us an outside threat and Gilstrap is the great wing player we think he is, we should be much, much better assuming that other players on the team will be improving as well.
I also think that having a little more depth should keep us in games a little longer. I think an underrated factor is that we were so far out of games in the second half last year that our coaching didn't even matter. I think McD is a great Xs and Os coach and if we keep some of those blowouts close we'll be in a position to "outcoach" the other team down the stretch (basically, the polar opposite of Wayne Morgan). That allows you to win a surprise game or two instead of thowing a couple away.
