Some MBB thoughts
After seeing numerous line-up threads one thing I have found a bit humorous is that ISU fans are not used to having a full roster of players to choose a lineup from. It's going to be a real paradigm shift for us to realize that most team usually have a few players on scholly that don't get to play much.
I hope Brackins spends more time working on defense than anything else. With his length and hopefully increasing strength, he could be a force on the defensive end because of his athleticism. If he can improve on defense going into next year as much as he did on offense going into this past year, we are going to be in very good shape.
A real key to next years success is going to be how well Craig and Strap can play together. To me, this really boils down to Craig being able to pass out of the double team. If he continues to improve at this, we might see Craig double his assist total thanks to Gilstap's shooting and slashing abilities.
DG and Lucca have to step up. Both of them looked like all Big 12 players at times last season, yet both had times where they barely looked honorable mention all- retiree league. Lucca has the potential to be Chris Kingsbury reincarnated. IMO, this will be denpendent on how his body holds up. DG's problem is simple, make a layup. The kid can get to the rim at will, yet shoots a poor percentage. That has to improve.
Colvin and Christopherson need to be the real deal. We need Colvin to be a second option to get to the rim from the point. we need Scott to bring a more solid all around game than we saw from Petey or Haluska last season.

Re: Some MBB thoughts
Blake Griffin's Freshman year - 14.4 ppg
TEAM: 67.9 ppg
BG Sophomore year - 22.4 ppg
TEAM: 78.7 ppg
Why can't our team score more points per game?

Re: Some MBB thoughts
I would expect us to average pretty well over 70 points a game this year. If Mcdermott says were going to pick up the tempo anyway. Almost seemed any time we reached 70 points which wasn't often we had a great chance to win. But everytime the opponents reached 70 wasn't good for us at all.

Why can't our team score more points per game? I'll be surprised if we don't.

I'm not worried about Brackins D at all. Was it good? Not really, but I take that to him playing smart. He didn't foul out of a game at all last year, and if he had we would have lost. In fact I think the only game he got in foul trouble at all was SDSU. With a little more depth and talent, I think CB will be more aggressive on defense. Still has to stay out of trouble though
2. DG and Lucca never looked like All Big 12 players. Not once
3. I agree on Colvin needing to be the real deal. He doesn't even need to score more than 6 or so a game. Just get to the rim and make things happen and I will be happy. I hope Christopherson can be solid for us. We need good role players

Re: Some MBB thoughts
Did Greg's UNI teams have a lot of athleticism to get up and down the court?...no...
Next year will be the only D1 team Greg has ever coached with the athleticism to run and be successful...granted, our number one priority will always be defense and I am perfectly fine with that.

Re: Some MBB thoughts
It is kind of fun to see a roster with so much depth that a decent player might end up sitting more than he should. I see a lot of promise in all of the returning players, as they've had a year to play together and mature. I think that will solve a lot of issues by itself. -

Eric Coleman at UNI could have started on most any Big 12 team. He had some pretty good guards up there as well.
