I really like the last line. Nicely-written article.

I just hope it is a sign that McD will be able to finally get a team that is truly his and wants to there with him. Then maybe these last few years of hardship will finally be worth it.

If he can pull off that turnaround, we're in for some good times in Cyclone Country!

If Frank Martin is able to have success at Kansas State, there is no reason Greg McDermott can't have succss at Iowa State.

Re: Hlas: Sun seems to finally be shining for McDermott's program
The more I look at the players we have returning and coming in, the more I expect to win. We should get at least 13 wins in non-conference games and I see 8 very winnable conference games. Some might think it is funny/stupid to put high expectations on this team, but I sure hope the team doesn't feel that way.

Re: Hlas: Sun seems to finally be shining for McDermott's program
The only part of the article that I didn't agree with was his premature notion that Brackins decision to stay was the right one. Only time will tell whether he made the right decision for him and like a lot of people on this board the author doesn't seem to understand that players can improve while in the NBA, perhaps a lot more than in college.

Great article! Is it basketball season yet? -

This team has to qualify for the NIT, at the least. Returning the starting PG, SG, PF and C....

Adding Colvin, Gilstrap, Christophersen, Dendy, and Oliver to Brackins, Staiger, Garrett, Boozer, Buckley seems like a winning combination. They need to develop a winning attitude from Day 1 though.

Hopefully Christopherson, Colvin, and Gilsrtap live up to the hype.

Good things are quality experence and it looks to be a more athletic team.

Re: Hlas: Sun seems to finally be shining for McDermott's program
Plenty of excuses delivered by this BB staff in three years, some warranted, others not. The bottom line: Gmac is making big time money and has not produced. He's also been given an unbelievable amount of slack. I think he needs to produce an NCAA team in 2009-2010 which could probably be accomplished by a top third Big 12 finish. If not, we need to move on.

If not, we need to move on. Big time money to Average Joe, not major college basketball. He gets, and deserves, at least two more years.
