Oh well we were below it last year, and we've improved by 8, so doesnt seem like its a big deal.

Isn't the APR a multi-year measure of progress? If so, we're still paying for all of the outbound transfers we've had in the last couple of years.

Number of transfers doesn't matter as long as they leave in good academic standing.

I'm think Weasley assisted in this one. Take notice it was released for 2007-2008.
    Cyclone
Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:
    'Struck by a Cyclone
It Comes from Iowa and Devastates Evanston Town'

I'm willing to bet a few of the transfers didn't leave in good standing.

    Re: APR: Oh dear...

We were in a bad place APR-wise when GMac took over and the transfers didn't help. He turned around the program in regards to academics though and it's evident in the report and will be more so in the future reports.
A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

In two years, I guarantee we will be above the cut off line...we're in a lot better hands with Gmac.

APR is based on the previous six years. The NCAA introduced the APR system in 2005. If you think we look bad now, just think how much worse off we'd be had they kept these scores during the Floyd and Eustachy era. If you don't believe me, check out our 2005 MBB APR. It was 891:

    http://web1.ncaa.org/app_data/apr2005/311_2005_apr.pdf

    Check out the 2008-2009 penalties:

Bowling Green losing 8 (!) football scholarships.
Indiana losing 2 in basketball. Minnesota losing 3 in football. Tennessee losing 1 in basketball.

    http://www.ncaa.org/wps/ncaa?ContentID=49705
Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good.
    Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better.
    Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step.

My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk, superdorf, clones_jer. That is all.
