If the NCAA
made a rule that all DI basketball teams could only offer scholarships to in-state players, what would the recruiting classes look like? Here is what I think they would look like:
IOWA
PF Zach Bohannon
C Brennan Cougill
SF Eric May
PG Amry Shelby
DRAKE
SF Alex Novak
SF Shawn Keizer
SG Nate Hutcheson
PF Reece Uhlenhopp
PF Seth Van Deest
IOWA STATE
PG Cliff Warner
PF Gabe Knutson
SF Al Dorr
SF Ty Lange
NORTHERN IOWA
PG Matt Morrison
PG Mitch Murphy
SG Trevor Wolsterhoff
SG Jaron Nash
Personally, I think this rule would be a great idea because there are always some good players in-state that don't go to the in-state schools and having them come to the local schools would really help the programs.
I'm sure you ISU fans would really like this rule because you guys could get the #1 player in the nation in Harrison Barnes.

Re: If the NCAA
Holy crap can you come up with some stupid threads. If Iowa schools were only allowed to recruit Iowans, we'd get SMOKED in EVERY sport. Hell, the elite ones would pay to go to school elsewhere instead of taking a scholly.

Being an ISU fan, I don't know why you would hate this rule because that would mean that Harrison Barnes (who is the #1 jr. in the nation by the way) would come play for the cyclones

Re: If the NCAA
We don't have enough D1/BCS talent. There are a few exceptions, such as HB. But........no, bad idea.

Re: If the NCAA
yeah but here's the thing: would you rather have out of state players that are elite and think they are god's gift to basketball and don't work as hard OR would you rather have in-state kids that are thankful enough to be playing and work twice as hard?

I want the better players, and they likely ain't living in Iowa.

The elite kids. Most of them don't think they're God's gift to mankind.
All I have to say is this:
Amry Shelby, or Chris Colvin?
Taller? Colvin
Stronger? Colvin
Quicker? Colvin
Better ballhandler? Colvin
Better shooter? Colvin
Better athlete? Colvin
Better Defender? Colvin.
etc. etc.
This rule would be just plain stupid.

Re: If the NCAA
Wow. Terrible idea. And just how often do the HBs of the world come along here in Iowa?

Maybe kids that are thankful to be playing and work twice as hard but suck three times as much as our out of state recruits!
