That's like 2 people arguing over who is fatter. A guy that weighs 400 and a guy that weighs 350. Who cares? Their both fat If they arent good enough or you dont care, then why did you waste your time putting 5 or 6 posts in this thread?

Re: New Walk-on
wasnt sean haluska and petey both walk ons? not saying they were the best isu has ever had but they both provided valuable minutes on defense and played their hearts out

Re: New Walk-on
Bubu has some skills. I am not sure if he has the talents to play at a Big XII level. But since he is just walking on we are not risking anything by giving him a shot. At the very least he provides competition at practice. And also gives our starters a chance to practice against a player that is more of a jitterbug. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain by giving Bubu a shot.

Read my post. Two people were arguing over who was better, Lickliter or Bubu. Honestly who cares? Neither will play anyway
I am glad we got Bubu to walk on. You need quality walk ons to help push the guys that play during practice. But basketball is different than football. Walk on's typically only play 2% of the time for big D1 teams.
Iowa State fans think it is more common b/c what has taken place here the past 5 years. But it is not common and if we want to get back to being a solid program, we are going to have to stop relying on walk ons to play significant minutes

Re: New Walk-on
I'm not sure whether or not a Junior College Letter of Intent is binding if a player changes his mind and decides to go to an NCAA school, but I had noticed on the NJCAA website a few weeks ago that Palu had signed a letter of intent to play for Ellsworth Community College this year. I checked this morning and he is still listed as an Ellsworth signee. I tried to paste the link, but for some reason it doesn't want to paste properly. Just go to www.njcaa.org and click on sports, then click on Men's Basketball. There is an option towards the top that you can click on National Letter of Intent Signees. When that page opens, enter in Ellsworth Community College and their signees will show up. I would assume that a Juco Letter of Intent isn't binding when an NCAA school becomes involved?

I remember when I was being recruited and a coach told me I could back out and go to a different school

And the point is the same. For GOOD D1 programs, walk ons don't play. Period. And nobody can argue with that
So 2% is actually a very believable amount
