Funny thing, KG or Cysmydog haven't appeared on this thread. Our approach with recruits is really starting to puzzle me with Dykstra dropping. It's like we're shoving recruits through a revolving door and hoping that through sheer quantity we end up with a decent lineup.

To know what is up kg? Who's the coaching staff have in mind with the scholly?

Decision was mutual, but Dykstra made the final call. Don't have names, but we have some other prospects...not much left for 2010 in the midwest.

You bring up good points. It just really appears to me that McD is encouraging these 6'7"-6'8" post players to look elsewhere. You have to think that he is going to try and drastically change the style of play, and if that's the case, it would seem that he's going in the right direction with our latest signings by at least bringing more athletic guys like Dendy & Oliver.
I don't know how to feel about Dykstra yet, but I'm glad that guys like Mann & Eik are no longer on the team.

But you don't recruit a wing to replace a power forward. If Doug is undersized as a power forward, then it doesn't make sense to have him replace Dykstra. That's all I'm saying.
ps. I believe Corey Johnson was 6'7", but not athletic enough to play wing. If Doug is cut from the same cloth, he doesn't really belong at ISU. Doug and Dykstra are virtually the same height, with Doug more likely to end up "bigger" overall. Dykstra is just as much a wing/small forward as Doug. Both are on the verge of being "tweeners". Do you take a scholarship tweener or a walk-on tweener with more upside?
CJ was 6'6'' and still could have really helped the team as an upperclassmen. You add the fact that Doug may not be on scholarship, and he does belong at ISU.

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone. -
Re: Dykstra?
My grand conspiracy theory is that we have a silent commit from HB and he was sent up to play for Howard Pulley so we can sign Sentreal Henderson for football and also allow him to play some basketball too. ISU will pull both the #1 overall player for basketball and football for the class of 2010.
