Re: New 2010 Post offer?
The only position that I would take a project is at the 5, maybe a four. Especially given McD ability with identifying posts and developing them. If he is a 2010 post, we can afford to develop him a little. His freshman year, Dendy would be a senior, Big Ham a junior, and Pomlee a rs soph.
Scout :
He’s definitely more prospect than player but there are some markers to pay attention to. He uses his off hand to finish, looks to go from scorer to passer and the size is legit. Stanford and USC are looking at him, but no offers yet.

Haley on the other hand, is 6'11", with a really big wingspan, a post presence, and is very fundementally solid.

You didn't even know who this kid was 3 hours ago. Please don't hype him up and say that we are #1 on his list because it makes you look stupid. Not trying to be a jerk but you get a little ahead of yourself which makes me not put any credibility towards your posts.

Plus even if they were, projects and misses, if you are expecting direct hits on all recruits, you will have trouble finding any team/coach to support.

Re: New 2010 Post offer?
I never said he didn't have connections. Would be nice if he didn't whiff on his predictions everytime

If he said something like "the staff feels like he's fundamentally solid, and a good player (elaborate here).. From what they told me, I have to agree because of .... (insert reasons here)", it'd be a different story. He'd be taking the info he got and forming his own opinion... It also would mean that he probably wouldn't agree 100% with someone, because when do we ever agree 100% with anyone?

Some people really need to have everything spelled out for them.
Note: this is MY opinion.

I disagree. First, we didn't know where Cory would top out, partly because you don't know when the bigs will stop growing. We only saw him a couple of years, so don't know how big of a contributor he might have been as a Jr & Sr. Second, Mann was a spring signee when we had a short roster. We needed players, and energy rebounders, even if for nothing more than the fact that we needed bodies in practice. Ham and JvB were at least as good as we thought, and for me at least surpassed my expectations that weren't that high. He also allowed us to redshirt LA.

I suggest if comments like cyismydog bother you so much, perhaps you should not follow recruiting.

They say things like, "good shooter" or "good ball handler" or "project." The hype is added by other people.
cyismydog, for argument's sake, please footnote all of your sources for everything to avoid plagiarism. -

Well, technically then every recruit is a "project", they are expected to improve some over the next few years, and no one is 100% sure how far that will go. But I think everyone pretty much knew where those two were at on their "growth" curve. CJ was not going to improve physically, and he had a polished game. To me, a "project" is a player who, due to several indicators, is perceived to have a potential to really improve his game. Does it always work out? No, but it beats taking someone you are sure will not improve much.
