It's funny, kg-cyclone nor cyismydog hype up recruits. Watch what they post. They say things like, "good shooter" or "good ball handler" or "project." The hype is added by other people.

I don't know if this is true, but an NU fan I know was watching Lucca shoot around in Lincoln, and said he made 94/100 shots! He also said at one point he made 64 in a row! That is absolutely crazy shooting, and if Lucca can do half of that it would be awesome.

Wes and Stephen's games are mirror images of each other, IMO. They are both great shooters, who use the fear of their shot to get dribble penetration. They're the same height, and close to the same weight, and they both get their teammates involved.

Eventually, this is how I see them playing out in terms of how good they are.
1. Dominique Buckley: Will be a future Cyclone great
2. L. A. Pomlee: IMO, the biggest steal of this class, and vastly underrated, IMO>
3. Jamie Vanderbeken: Will be good, but only here for 2.
4. Wes Eikmeier: Could end up No. 1, or no. 7. Kind of an unkown, hopefully a Jimmy Chitwood type
5. Justin Hamilton: ^^^^A real unkown, will take a while to see true potential
6. Clinton Mann. Will never be a "star" but will do all the dirty work.
I am not including Scott Christopherson, I personally will count him as an '09 recruit, just because it is easier for me.

Jordan Dykstra He was only here for a couple of hours, since he had another commitment to go to, but IMO he would be our sixth man right now if he came here. He looked like he is going to be an eventual high 4 star (20-25 range)

Did we make mistakes? yes...If we lost I still would have liked what I saw in terms of this team learning how to play and how to play together. With tape on ourselves, we can show the guys what they are doing right, wrong, and how to fix it over the course of 9 practices before another game. Opponents getting tape on us that we can shoot is also a good thing. Lucca and Eikmeier are capable of getting into the lane, which we haven't seen much of yet.

You said Buckley will be an all time great. You could be right, you could be wrong (we don't know yet), but how is it NOT hyping someone up?

Don't get me wrong. Everyone makes mistakes in life, it's all good.

What I am saying is that cyismydog and kg are respected on this site for their opinions and what they bring to the table from the connections they have. Therefore, anything they say will have more weight to people than a normal poster.

What I am trying to say is that they are guilty of hyping people up as much as anyone else. I'll agree that the casual poster hypes up and drinks WAYY too much Kool-Aid. The thing is that none of them really have credibility, so we just dismiss the casual poster.

IMO, it's hard to predict what anyone between the ages of 14-18 are going to do basketball-wise between the ages of 18-22, 90% of the time. I just think all of us need to be more level headed when it comes to recruiting and we should just wait and see what we've got. AAU games, skill camps, etc., are nice, but a Big 12 conference game is different.

I think cyismydog and kg provide some good insight that most of us aren't able to see, particularly what the coaching staff thinks, or the relationships people have on the team.

Just don't say that us "non-insiders" are the only ones hyping up recruits....

HB was lights out from the word go. As a high school soph, he looked better than many of our college players. He could shoot inside, outside, dribble, rebound, steal. Some people just have a knack for greatness.

I do agree with mplscyclones first point in that everyone makes hype. Its something that is always going to happen on message boards! Nothing at all against kg and cyismydog at all because i have a ton of respect for them and for the information they bring us! but i do have to agree with mpls's INITIAL point in that hype is created by everyone. It isnt created intentionally usually, but it just happens. As for the other things mplsclone says im not sure....

Who cares if they create hype? It's not like we have any problem hyping football players to the extreme even though they don't contribute much if anything to the football forum. Everybody loved clones33 and he hyped guys beyond all comprehension.

If you hang around enough you know KG and cyismydog love the staff and believe in the players maybe to the point of hyping. There is nothing wrong with that. Insiders are going to be that way more often than not because they have a relationship with the staff/players.
