cyismydog, for argument's sake, please footnote all of your sources for everything to avoid plagiarism. Yes you are right

6. Clinton Mann. Will never be a "star" but will do all the dirty work.

You said Buckley will be an all time great. You could be right, you could be wrong (we don't know yet), but how is it NOT hyping someone up?

Re: New 2010 Post offer?
Don't get me wrong. Everyone makes mistakes in life, it's all good.
What I am saying is that cyismydog and kg are respected on this site for their opinions and what they bring to the table from the connections they have. Therefore, anything they say will have more weight to people than a normal poster.
What I am trying to say is that they are guilty of hyping people up as much as anyone else. I'll agree that the casual poster hypes up and drinks WAYY too much Kool-Aid. The thing is that none of them really have credibility, so we just dismiss the casual poster.
IMO, it's hard to predict what anyone between the ages of 14-18 are going to do basketball-wise between the ages of 18-22, 90% of the time. I just think all of us need to be more level headed when it comes to recruiting and we should just wait and see what we've got. AAU games, skill camps, etc., are nice, but a Big 12 conference game is different.
I think cyismydog and kg provide some good insight that most of us aren't able to see, particularly what the coaching staff thinks, or the relationships people have on the team.
Just don't say that us "non-insiders" are the only ones hyping up recruits....

HB was lights out from the word go. As a high school soph, he looked better than many of our college players. He could shoot inside, outside, dribble, rebound, steal. Some people just have a knack for greatness.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: New 2010 Post offer?
FWIW, other than possibly Dykstra, I don't see anything that has been proven wrong about any of the quotes. Indeed, many of the statements are consistent with my impressions of the players after watching them for a year and some of them appear to already be "spot on".
As a general rule of argument, you highlight the best evidence you have and try to hide, spin or discount the remaining evidence. If this is the best evidence you can present here, it shows how weak your argument really is.

IcSyU said that we were creating the hype not the insiders.
Saying stuff like Dykstra could be the 6th man now and Buckley is going to be one of the best players in Cyclone History is creating hype. Saying that Lucca and Wes could get into the lane whenever they wanted creates hype. It doesn't matter if they turn out to be right or wrong; they are setting the expectation level as many on this site value what they say.
Do you really not see what I'm trying to say?

Do you really not see what I'm trying to say? Capable of and whenever they want, are two very different things, IMO...If you're going to quote me...then quote me, don't change the words...Thanks.

With Wes, it was clear he was not strong enough to drive and get into the lane in the Big 12.
With Lucca, all I'll say is this. If I'm capable of getting into the lane and scoring, and I'm struggling at times from outside, I go inside to get some points then. If you are right about him, I hope to see it next year.

Re: New 2010 Post offer?
Now that we have impugned each other's credibility, may we get back to wild speculation and conjecture that we all participate here for?

In regards to this new recruit Darrell Haley, I hear that he totally owned Brackins when playing pickup ball in California. That's when Craig went to the staff and said, "You gotta recruit this guy." -

2) At the risk of "violating" Proverbs 26:4; I must admit curiosity as to why your are so adamantly opposed to 'dog and kg. I enjoy their postings. Their tone seems friendly -- never snobbish, narcissistic, obnoxious, or sanctimonious. They clearly have insight and information that I don't have, and they are equally clearly human (perfection elludes them (sorry 'dog and kg to break the news to you)). Are you angry with them? Jealous? Frustrated? Irritated?
May my postings be polite and not misunderstood. (And hopefully funny on occasion.) -
Re: New 2010 Post offer?
I do agree with mplscyclones first point in that everyone makes hype. Its something that is always going to happen on message boards! Nothing at all against kg and cyismydog at all because i have a ton of respect for them and for the information they bring us! but i do have to agree with mpls's INITIAL point in that hype is created by everyone. It isnt created intentionally usually, but it just happens. As for the other things mplsclone says im not sure....

Re: New 2010 Post offer?
Who cares if they create hype? It's not like we have any problem hyping football players to the extreme even though they don't contribute much if anything to the football forum. Everybody loved clones33 and he hyped guys beyond all comprehension.
If you hang around enough you know KG and cyismydog love the staff and believe in the players maybe to the point of hyping. There is nothing wrong with that. Insiders are going to be that way more often than not because they have a relationship with the staff/players. Do you really not see what I'm trying to say? I do understand what you're trying to say. I fail to see how this is something you need to protect us from or call them out on. It just doesn't make sense to me.
