Charley Walters (Shooter) in the STP Pioneer Press writes that the buzz is that HB is a lean to the jhawks. The good news is that Shooter is often about as reliable as a 1948 Chicago Tribune headline.

I'm not holding my breath that HB comes but your theories are a tad flawed:

1. you have a point here which is why this season is critical that we show major improvement and what nothing better than to have a hometown hero be the missing link?
2. barring any major defections there is a nice young core in place. Brackins is probably going pro after this season, Gilstrap is only a 1 year guy but the staff is doing a nice job of recruiting some talent.
3. this is your biggest flawed statement. First off McDermott has found Taylor, Brackins, and W. Johnson, all who will be in the NBA at some point and look at the progress CB made from year 1 to 2 under coach Mac. Plus I'm sure the staff will run an offense to Harrison's liking. Hard to run a fast pace offense when we've been so athletically challenged lately. Get the athletes and I'm sure we'll see more running. Who was going to run the fast break last year? DG has some speed but can't make a layup, other than that I'm sure Lucca, Petey, and Haluska were not going to scare anyone on a fast break. If Colvin lives up to his billing there's another guy that can run the break with HB.

OH MY. Cyclone fans (YES I AM ONE) I am not trying to upset anyone but can we atleast be a bit realistic here? I do admit this incoming recruiting class is a HUGE step up for coach Mac but Harrison is not coming.. And to you ******* who want to suggest McDermott is a good coach to prepare for the NBA, take a hike. I'm talking about consistant talent output not the few talented players from ISU that manage to end up warming benches. Brackinns will get there sure and so will Wes Johnson but I guarantee you that Boeheim has more influence on his future than Mac ever did. I HAVE HELD MY TONGUE FOR TOO LONG OBVIOUSLY! I AM A DIEHARD ISU FAN BUT I AM SICK OF LOGGING ON EVERYDAY AND READING CRAP.

Ok, not to feed in here, but can you explain to me what you do consider a good track record for getting players to the NBA? In 3 years McDermott has coached three NBA ready players. To me, that seems pretty good. I'm just curious how much better you would expect from someone with that little time spent coaching a major conference program.

Seriously, til HB says Iowa State is off his list, don't say we have no chance. He might come here and scare the crap out of pretty much everyone here. That'll be funny.

Do you know Boeheim? It just seems you are making assumptions because he has a NC while GM doesn't.

No I'm a realist and I would be very excited if Harrison came to ISU (though io would be a bit disapointed in him for not taking his talents somwhere where he will actually be rewarded for them)... and woodie... I HATE IOWA.. think more say.. rock chalk or hookem.. all after ISU of course. Mostly a BIG XII fan

It's not easy at ISU to have 3 NBA players in 3 years. We aren't Kansas, NC, Duke, Kentucky...

warsend, Carmelo Anthony, Hakim Warrick to name two which is way more than enough for this thread. I do apoligize for saying we have no chance in landing Barnes.. Remember, I am pulling for us too I just want some threads with some substance and heated debate.. we dont have enough of it on here

I'M NOT COMPARING US TO ANYONE.. merely saying that Harrison could do much better for himself. I've known him since he was very young and to see a young man like that with such an oppertunity is exciting for me

GM has 3 in 3 years??

HB still has us on the list, til he says publically we are off....then i'll believe it.
