i didn't really want to say anything in this thread, but i might as well.... so here are my two cents
I think we have a small chance at landing HB
I also believe if you are good enough to play in the NBA, then NBA scouts will notice, especially if you play in a bcs conference. HB will benefit from playing for a coach like coach k over coach mac not because he will have played for coach k and will of had a bigger name coach, but he will have benefited from learning from a superior coach.
Last i think the original poster is saying that coach mac cant recruit superior talent because with mike taylor, people stayed away from him because he was a risk, and with wesley he was a true diamond in the rough because he didnt play his senior year. However, craig brackins was a very well sought after recruit and had no issues so that proves that mac can handle recruiting. (however i really dont think he can because he has had an nba type player on his team the past few years and has still done subpar wich shows that allthough he can recruit some good players, he also greatly misses on the evaluations of some players he gets and cant put four other decent players out on the court... When he gets a team that wins 20 games, ill change my opinnion on his recruiting.)
Yes, I agree... he is about to explode onto the scene of elite coaches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:wink::wink::wink:
It's just my personal opinion that he's been doing a lot of great things... but has been very unlucky until this last year keeping Brackins.
Year 1. Mass Exodus... unlucky that the players didn't give him a chance.
Year 2. Mike Taylor... made some mistakes in life... but he believes in McD.
Year 3. Wes Johnson... somebody wispering in his ear? Says he had conflicts with the coaches... but never told any of them about it during their meetings and then drops the bomb on us...
Year 4. Brackins stays!!! We have upper classmen who understand what McD wants them to do in various situations. We have some athletes who can run the floor. We have some shooters. We have an NBA propsect. We can put a lot of different looks on the floor and have a chance to do something great this year.
Year 5. Harrison could be walking into an up and coming team and help take them to a level we haven't seen for awhile.
Wow... Seems like people have been taking too many stupid pills today.. What is it about Sundays that brings out the dumb in people??
Sorry, that's rude, I'm sure your a nice guy.... But why another pointless thread about HB? Then flame on the coach.
Seriously, football can't get here soon enough.
I'd submit that Coach K isn't all he's cracked up to be when it comes to turning out NBA stars. Grant Hill was an all-star until injuries derailed him. I'm probably forgetting somebody big, but Duke players in the NBA tend to be lunch-pail types (Sheldon Williams, Shane Battier,etc.). I've always assumed it was because of the type of ball they played at Duke (unselfish team-oriented).
If NBA stardom is what HB ultimately wants, he'd be better off at any number of different programs, including ISU where he'd be featured early on...
Agree, belz.
I'm still puzzled how this guy can't give McDermott any credit for 3 potential NBA players. Taylor is in the NBA, Brackins would be this year if he declared, and Wesley Johnson will probably be one day. 3 NBA calibeer players in 3 seasons at ISU is not a bad track record.
bellzisu, i am totally with you on this. I cant WAIT for football season. I merely wanted to post a NEW take on the barnes situation for discussion
Your "NEW take" on the situation started off solid enough to be competent. You then ended with G Mac can't prepare players for the NBA, and that you want him gone from the program. THAT is what lost your credibility on the situation because it's been debunked with Mike Taylor's words on him, Wesley's stand on the NBA platform, and Brackins. The fact that you said that you want him gone just makes it seem like you have a personal vendetta against him, and further harms your credibility.
I'd submit that Coach K isn't all he's cracked up to be when it comes to turning out NBA stars.
My point wasn't necessarily for duke or for coach K, it was just in general a better coach then coach mac.... if you would like I could substitute another coach of your choosing.
The point I was trying to make was that HB will only benefit by a coach at the college level for what the coach can teach him as a player and as a person, he will not however benefit from just playing for "coach x" over "coach y" if "coach x" is a big name and "coach y" isn't.
