Why Harrison Barnes WILL come to Iowa State

1)Bubu Palo and possibly Doug McDermott will be on the team. He will have some good friends on the team that will gain some of his interest.

2)Better players. McDermott is realizing that unathletic guys do not do well in the Big 12. We got Colvin (4*), Gilstrap(2nd best JUCO player according to ESPN), Dendy (old 4* player, has some cool youtube vids as well), Oliver (might redshirt, but is supposedly an athletic freak). Add Pomlee, Hamilton, Christoppherson, and we have a good team soon.

3)Parental influence/location. For a guy like Harrison, he seems grounded. The people who influenced that are his parents. His mom has been their for him, his dad not so much. His dad told ME that he wants Harrison in the pros soon. I think that won't matter alot because of Harrison and his dad's relationship. I expect Harrison to be in school 2 years ala Blake Griffin.

He told me at the semifinals of state against Johnston. This is what he said...."That boy will make me a ton of money soon".

Sorry I have no source, this is what he told me....

Ronnie and HB's mom didn't sit by each other, so I wasn't sure what she thought of that...

He also knows Bubu and Doug....IDK if DOug will come here, but Bubu might help us in recruiting.

Also, Colvin is supposedly talking to recruits to come to Iowa State, I imagine Barnes would be one of them.

He grew up watching the Cyclones... he knows what this place can be. I have a feeling Greg is building a team for HB... I think what we see from Gilstrap will be a good indication of what we can offer HB.

glad some people are a little optimistic....geez. It seems like since Iowa State sucks lately that we can't get any 5 stars...NOT true. We can still get good players here. Examples:Colvin(hope), Brackins, Weasley Johnson, Mike Taylor

Sounds like a good thought except for one issue - HB most likely commits during the early signing period before Gilstrap ever takes the court for Iowa State.

I suppose, though, there's a chance they'll be playing together over the summer. I remember a mention that the two matched up on Gilstrap's visit last Fall (IIRC, Harrison won).
