Keep reaching, Hawkeye. Keep reaching for what? Are you just trying to pick a fight with me? You can have this one. Calm down there slick, I'm just giving the OP a hard time. Plus, not all the responses have been saying he's crazy.
But regardless, as I said, I'd really like to see ISU win, and I'm really hoping I can make it out there. Originally Posted by huntt26 Hope you make it out.. if you don't cheer for ISU, at least cheer for Duke to lose! No no, I'd be cheering for ISU to win and Duke to lose :)

This may have already been brought up, and sorry if it is a little bit of a hijack...
Somebody tell me why Duke seems to frequently schedule thier "tougher" road games at a neutral court? Are they worried about something? Is this a way not to be obligated to a "home and home"????

I do wear ISU stuff, for the record. As well as Iowa things. I'm a diverse individual.

Just because you hear the name "Duke" people think we have no shot. When hilton east is packed with cyclones and our players are jacked for this game it could be a good one.

I would expect Cy Fan to outnumber Duke Fan, but maybe the number of regional Chicago Duke followers may offset that.

IMO McD has to have an incredible year to help keep his job status "healthy". If he doesn't, there will be obvious grumblings around the alumni and fans alike. No excuses this year.....the Clones need to finish in the top 6 of the conference. You have the best player in College playing for you next year. Get it done.
Also, before making picks against the likes of "Duke," McD needs to beat teams like Hawaii, Drake....SDSU....etc. Again, this year is HUGE for him.....and he knows it. He has good talent coming back, good recruits....time to roll. Though, I believe this is the year to "get back" to where we once belonged.
If we have a good record going into this game, you gotta believe that many a loyal Cyclones will be in Chi-town ready to beat Duke. It would be a major stepping-stone game for McDermott.....and a win allows us to have a tremendous year/great media attention....etc.

I don't really have a comment. Is it? Yep. It is.
And I doubt Brackins is the best player in college basketball. Great player? Yes he is. The best? I doubt it.

There are lots of alum that live in that area. Plus the fans that will drive. I dont know I have high hopes about the numbers we can put up there. Yeah the band wagon Duke fans that really aren't even Duke fans. Although there will be quite a few there I'm sure.

Alright, if he isn't the best player in Col. basketball, would you agree that he is the best PF/F in the country? Because he is going to be come pre-season.

Re: Why I think we can beat Duke.
Its hard to argue that there is any player in the country that is more versatile offensively. he is pretty much unstoppable. if gilstrap is as good as advertised, and the other guys are improving over the summer, we will be very good.

This is what I really meant about coach's status as our head basketball coach.
Of couse he is currently in a comfortable situation with his current deal. But he needs to have a successful year in the eyes of many fans.... not that this season is the make or break for him....but a significant improvement in the final record needs to be positive for the program.

But, that's also assuming that Coach K is still Duke's coach for the game. While it's highly unlikely that Coach K leaves Duke, there has been some speculation (particularly by talk show hosts on FSR) that if Phil Jackson decides to retire this offseason that Coach K is the front runner for the job with the Lakers. Ponder that one for awhile... Originally Posted by Cyclonic This may have already been brought up, and sorry if it is a little bit of a hijack... Because they can, plain and simple. Duke is a name that automatically causes a jump in the RPI (regardless of win or loss) and there are no shortage of teams that are willing to play Duke on a neutral court. So, unless you are on the level of Duke, you're going to play them on their terms.
Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice? Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.
