But imo everything he excels at involves him needing the ball, thus adding time with him void of the ball may decrease his overall value. Things like moving without the ball, spot up shooting, shooting of a screen, posting-up, setting screens, offensive rebounding, are all things that need to be done off the ball, and are things I do not see DG excelling at. If we gain that much with a new pg or if the other options at the two are not that good it may be worth it.

Re: 2009-2010 Starting Line up?
PG - Buckley/Garrett
SG - Christopherson/Colvin
SF - Gilstrap/Lucca
PF - Brackins,Dendy
C - Hamilton,JVB
I can see Lucca starting with Gilstrap and Brackins playing against small teams that we need athletism to matchup. I think that we'll see a lot of subbing this year similar to what Missouri did last year. Hopefully that means a faster pace with some full court defense mixed in.
BTW, I just don't see Lucca as a guard. He doesn't have the speed to stay with the guards in the Big12. He's much better suited at the wing where Brackins can pass it out to him in the corner.

I don't see Garrett losing the starting spot this year

Re: 2009-2010 Starting Line up?
I'm guessing that we'll see many variations in the starting line up this year until Mac feels like he has the best combination of starters and strength of bench. I wouldn't be surprised at all if 9 - 10 guys get the starting nod at some point during the season.

the way Dendy and Gilstrap have been playing together in the CCL - any chance we see Dendy, Gilstrap, and Brackins on the floor at the same time?

Re: 2009-2010 Starting Line up?
Wow, I have no clue what I was watching last year apparently. I honestly thought that Buckley was the least valuable player on the team in terms of players that have scholarships. He looked lost, dribbled the ball high/out of control and shot poorly. The only time he really played was in mop up minutes and now he is going to be a starter??? Diante averaged 10 and 5 as an underweight Soph---what did/do people expect from him????

Re: 2009-2010 Starting Line up?
1.DG
2.Gilstrap
3.Lucca or Jamie, Dendy
4.Brackins
5.Dendy or Hamilton, Pomlee
There will be alot of fresh bodies out on the court this year I think. Boozer could crack the starting lineup from time to time. It is good that we have options that consist of more than just one this season so who knows who will be starting?

Re: 2009-2010 Starting Line up?
I think many of you DG haters may be shocked to learn that, as a sophomore, he was very close to being the best player in the conference in terms of assist rate (assists divided by made field goals by teammates while on the court). link - 2009 Big 12 Conference Leaders for Assist Rate
If healthy, he'll start, and he'll start at the point. His strengths (quickness, vision, handling) fit the PG position. His weaknesses (shooting, mainly) make him a relatively poor choice at the 2G position.
