7/10 CCL update
Saw the second half of the first game and the first half of the second game.
Oliver--this was the first time I have seen him play. He is incredibly athletic--he jumps like he is on a pogo stick--and his arms are very long. He posted up a smaller player a few times and made some nice moves down low. His outside shot was not falling too much. He really looks like a freshman (raw) and I really hope he redshirts. But I can see why the staff took a gamble on him. He just looks like he has the body to be a good BBall player.
Colvin--made some nice moves in the paint. He didn't seem to be too excited in tonights game. It could be because they were getting blown out by 30 for the entire second half. He looks like he will be a good player, but I am not ready to retire his jersey yet.
Pomlee--hardly played at all. Probably because his team was completely dominating the game.
Buckley---saw him make at least one outside shot. I have seen him play better this summer, but he did fine tonight. He doesn't look like a freshman anymore because his body looks a lot stronger.
JVB--kind of slept walk through the first half. He hasn't really been too into the CCL games this year.
Palo--one of the quickest guys on the court. Had trouble finishing shots tonight.
Dorr--is a hustle guy who isn't too flashy.
Gilstrap--started very poorly but really started to pick it up. He loves to score and he likes to work on set plays where he gets dunks.
Dendy--he impressed me the most tonight. He was aggressive on the glass and in the paint. He doesn't have much of an outside shot, but he really did some nice things under the rim. I really like how he works with Gilstrap. I am excited to see what happens when we throw Craig in the mix too.
For you Drake fans: Templeton played very well tonight--knocked down a few threes and really hustled on the boards.
Heemskerk--played very strong with some nice moves in the paint.

Re: 7/10 CCL update
Glad to hear that Buckley didn't look like a freshman since he is a sophomore...

Thanks for the update, I really appreciate it. Just one comment... Originally Posted by cycloneroyce JVB--kind of slept walk through the first half. Funny thing, one game I had heard this, then saw in the box score that JVB had had like 30 points that night...

Of the 3 or 4 times I have seen him this summer, he pretty much just sits back and bombs 3 pointers all night. If he is on, then I imagine he would score a lot. I am not knocking him for not being into the CCL games, I could see why they might be a little tedious for a big guy who doesn't take the ball down the court.

I can just imagine he plays like Jiri in the CCL. Walk down the court. Catch the ball 5 feet behind the three point line. Jack up the three. Walk down ot the other end.

I'm still amazed as to how much people care about this pointless "league"....
I don't drink the Kool-Aid, and I am done making excuses. Only keeping it real... -

I mentioned CCL and they both seemed less than excited about playing this year. It sounded like they both felt like it was much better last year, more competitive maybe?

Re: 7/10 CCL update
Dendy only got credit for 8 rebounds? Maybe 8 offensive rebounds. There were a couple times he got 2-3 offensive rebounds in one sequence. That guy hustles like crazy on the offensive glass.
