Is Harrison Barnes Backing Away From Duke? « Duke Basketball Journal
This article was posted EXACTLY 1 month ago...things could have changed but this "Duke Journalist" says from some info he got that IOWA STATE is a favorite for Barnes...read the article as their are 3 others at the top of the list...

Re: Is Harrison Barnes backing away from Duke?
this is the best article about HB i've ever read...actually some great info in it...also talks about undergraduate programs
Re: Is Harrison Barnes backing away from Duke?
Here is my post before I read the article...
Doubtful.
Here is my post after reading the article...
Still doubtful, but one piece of information I liked hearing was Duke does not have an undergraduate program for Business majors. Also, it was nice to not get trashed about our basketball program.

That is nice, but have we not read articles stating HB is not "backing away from Duke" since the date this was published?
Tornado Man has convinced me to not think I know where HB is going to go, and ignore the propaganda that claims to have an "in".
Re: Is Harrison Barnes backing away from Duke?
It doesn't talk about him cutting duke off the list...just says that everyone that says it's a lock for him to go to duke is WAY OFF....
Re: Is Harrison Barnes backing away from Duke?
If he is backing away from Duke, I give him a 90 percent chance of coming to ISU.
Re: Is Harrison Barnes backing away from Duke?
I think Minnesota is a bigger threat to get HB than anyone realizes. When push comes to shove, HB may not want to go so far from home as Duke or North Carolina. Minneapolis is just 3 hours away, it's a very good academic school, they have a team that has become very good very quickly, and a coach who can sell his experience (which includes an NCAA championship), and who has an excellent career record of bringing in 4 and 5 star recruits.

I sure hope he comes our way.

I agree, I think MN is one to worry about (and Kansas).
Re: Is Harrison Barnes backing away from Duke?
Maybe we could get him to switch to ag, then he would probably come.
Re: Is Harrison Barnes backing away from Duke?
This article can't possibly be true:jimlad:

Indeed, I doubt that HB has tipped off anyone but his mom Shirley about which direction he is leaning, if he is at all. He has praise for every school and program he visits; that's just the kind of kid he is. Then said schools jump all over his compliments as if they are the "leader."
I will say this: one irritation HB consistently mentions after visiting schools are the back-handed "swipes" at our state, such as:
"How'd a talented player like you ever come out of Iowa?"
"Bet you can't wait to get out and see the world!"
"You'll really grow on and off the court when you experience true diversity at our school."
HB is extremely proud of the town he grew up in, and the state he is from.

Thanks for the article. I'll be posting on the main rivals recruiting board to try and shut those morons up that think they know where Harrison is leaning.
Re: Is Harrison Barnes backing away from Duke?
I really think the business undergrad degree is silly for him to base his opinion off of for which school to attend. Granted going to a school that offers a program is important if that is what he wants to study, however getting an undergrad won't teach you that much and does not ensure you will get a great job. Getting his Masters or PHD would be important in which school he would attend MUCH more than an undergrad.
Maybe he thinks he will learn a lot in an undergrad program, but I think he will be greatly disappointed when he leaves school on the amount of schooling he does receive.

Agreed. He will probably only stay one or two years, and take Gen. Eds. He won't get his undergrad degree for awhile.
