    Colvin Interview

Go Cyclones - Q&A with Chris Colvin

    I really liked this quote

Q: Do you know anybody who plays for any of the teams on Iowa State’s schedule?
A: I don’t know anybody at Duke, but I have watched Jon Scheyer go through his high school career. He’s pretty good. But we’re going to be better that night.

Love it! This attitude needs to be widespread among the team.

I love the Duke quote. It's about time we got some cocky guys back on the team. I love it when they get a little cocky.

Confidence is good. All I ask is that if guys are going to talk ****, they've got to back that up on the court...

    Re: Colvin Interview

For those that have seen Colvin play, how would you rate his talent compared to these two other ISU players? Stats are from their freshman year.

Will Blalock - averaged 7.5 ppg, 4.1 assists and 2.2 turnovers per game. Started 22 of 33 games his freshman year. Team finished 20-13.

Tasheed Carr - averaged 5.8 ppg, 1.3 assists and 1.3 turnovers per game. Started 8 of 31 games his freshman year. Team finished 19-12.

Each of those guys averaged a lot more minutes (30 and 19) than I am expecting from Colvin. Rather than projecting his statistics, I'm looking more for an evaluation of his talent coming into ISU. Right now is he (a) better than Blalock was as a freshman, (b) between Carr and Blalock, (c) below Carr or (d) hard to predict?

I think that Colvin will be a pretty big contributor on the team this upcoming year. I have played with him a few times at the gym and there is just something about him that makes me believe he will be very good.

Intangibles are good. We've been short on those over the last few years.

Will hit a wall halfway through his freshman year if you remember. Got benched a few times. Was not used to banging with big 12 guys. I would expect the same to happen to Colvin. He is talented though.

If Colvin can somehow put up numbers like WB did in his Freshman year, I would be blown away. That would be a great sign.
