Probably more than people who are ranked the number one high school player in America.Quote:
How many people go to grad school at the same institution they got their undergrad degree from?
I will venture a guess that the size of the meltdown will be directly proportional to the number of grown men who funnel all their self worth into the decision of a 17-year old and then deem it necessary to proclaim their rage over the internets.
I am guessing that if we weren't in his top 5, people would still say stuff like "well, he wants to take 5 visits, he doesn't need to visit ISU, so he just added a different 5th team to have the experience of visiting the campus"
When HB has the press conference announcing his decision, CF will be overloaded with threads about his decision. I can already seem them now: If he doesn't come to ISU, we'll have all sorts of threads like "So now who do we go after", "Even though we lost on HB, I still think we'll be great", "I think McDermott should be fired", "This isn't the coaching staff's fault", "What will our lineup look like in 2010?", etc.
If he comes to ISU they will be "How good will we be next year?", "Realistically, do we have a shot at the NCAA championship", "Now that he's here, how long do you think he will stay", etc, etc.
I believe the time prior to HB deciding his school of choice will be referred to B. HB., while the time following will be referred to A. HB. This decision will cause such a large rift in the Cyclone space-time continuum, CF will involuntarily cease to exist for 24 hours further exaserbating the issue to the point of total temporal collaspe which will trigger a phase shift, budding a new reality where HB does decide to commit to ISU.
I'm talking ISU Armaggedon!!!! The end of days scenario...
One thing to remember, which all the resident CF recruiting gurus know already, is that the recruiting rules change Aug 1st for seniors - you can be called twice per week, instead of 1x per month. With HB having 12 schools or so on his list - that's ALOT of calls every week, even for a recruiting master like HB! :)
I don't think the meltdown on msg boards will be as bad as everyone thinks - either he comes or he doesn't, and most people who read the boards are prepared for either scenario.
