Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice? Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.
The eligibility case of Standhardinger, a 6-8 wing player considered a key piece of Sadler's recruiting class, now rests with the NCAA Clearinghouse.
Can the fact that a bylaw has been proposed to end vicarious professionalism in the future help Standhardinger now?
“I don't know,'' Rogers said. “But I'm sure a lot of people will be citing our legislation to try.''
If this Standhardinger is allowed to retain eligibility based on an NCAA rule-change that hasn't even been implemented yet, then I don't see why ISU couldn't use this to file a greivance against the NCAA to get Staiger's year of eligibility back.
Even if this passes and Lucca could get his year back, would he actually take it? If he was close to going pro in Europe after just one year of playing at ISU, should we really expect that he would stick around after three years? No, IMO.
Even if Lucca didn't want the year, I think Lucca should still fight for the year. It should be his option if the rule changes. It shouldn't be a matter of "well, he wasn't going to use it anyway". It is a matter principle.
