I listened to your basketball segment or when you went over the ISU schedule. You said the Big 12 will be down this year compared to last year so it should be easier for ISU. On paper, going into the season, this is just not true. If anything the Big 12 looks like the best or second best conference in the country. The Big 12 has not been "down" in basketball for a few years now. These things run in cycles and it certainly would be good for ISU if it were down but I don't think that will be this year. NE and CU may not be very good, but the rest of the league will be good. It is going to be tough for ISU to make the tourney IMO. Anyway, good show. thanks

Re: Jon Miller
Who is going to be that much better, KU, but they are always are good. Mizzou lost some talent and they were the 2nd best team in the North. Texas and A&M should be good, Baylor has lived up to the hype yet.

Re: Jon Miller
Texas is going to virtually be top 5 in country. OK State will be solid. Kansas State will be alright. Either way it's never going to be easy. But I dont think the big 12 is down this year.

Re: Jon Miller
I said that at first and then said on the whole, on balance, probably about the same. I am not sold on Texas at all. Mizzou will be down. KU is the best in the nation. ISU will be much better.

Yeah besides Kansas and Texas as a whole it will be about the same. Iowa State needs to hit that 20 win mark. Along with a .500 record in big 12 at least. Well..that's what I'd like to see.

LLWS story went a lil long......got to a point where I thought what is he talking about. throwing batteries? drying fields with heli's. come on next subject.

Re: Jon Miller
I think the rich got richer and the poor got poorer. Mizzou will be a shell of the team they were last year. KSU and KU are the only two teams in the north that will look like tourney teams to an outsider. CU, NU, MU will all be down, either perpetually or just this year.
UT will obviously be great. OSU will be alright, but they lost a lot. A&M lost a lot if I remember correctly. Baylor lost a ton off of a blah team. OU lost a lot. TT will probably suck.
I think the league will be better at the top (KU and UT) but at this point, there aren't any other Elite 8 teams in the Big 12 like a Mizzou team from last year. I agree that on paper it's down. But that's why they play the games. -
Re: Jon Miller
I thought Okie State returned 4 starters including Anderson. They did lose their point guard who was pretty good. (can't remember his name) I was kind of expecting them to be the team in the South to step up and challenge Texas.

Re: Jon Miller
I agree with Jon.
I think OU, OSU, Baylor, Mizzou, & A&M all take a step down. They will still be good teams and tough to beat, but not all will be NCAA caliber like last year.
Iowa State should have the talent to jump a notch in the Big 12.

Re: Jon Miller
I know OU lost quite a bit, but their incoming freshmen are pretty good. Texas could be very good if they can get the point guard situation figured out. I don't know if Balbay is the answer there. KU is obviously going to be stacked and the favorite to win the league. KSU has scorers & talent. OSU has a lot back. A&M will be solid again. The league might not have 3-4 elite teams, but everybody should be solid, except maybe CU.

Re: Jon Miller
Big 12 had a year a couple years back where only 4 teams made it to the dance....to me that would be a down year.

Re: Jon Miller
You are right. I thought Mounelo was gone too. Eaton graduated but they can replace him. Although if Page is their PG that is a big dropoff IMO. OSU, UT, KU, and KSU are IMO the class of the league this year and after that it's a lot of decent to blah teams.

Re: Jon Miller
I couldn't believe I was hearing correctly when they weree talking about ISU finishing between 4th and 6th in the Big12. I have high expectations for this team, but I am surprised that other people feel the same way.

Re: Jon Miller
CU will be better than last year and we will lose at theri place. :)

Re: Jon Miller
The Big 12 kept a lot of it's top talent in school another year so how can it possibly be down compared to last year? I think it may be one of the tougher conferences top to bottom this year. Look at how many guys stayed that are potential 1st round picks next summer:
KU: Aldrich, Collins, Xavier Henry
ISU: Brackins
OU: Willie Warren
Texas: Damion James, Dexter Pittman
OSU: James Anderson
So they lost the Griffin boys from OU, big deal. Lot of talent coming back on nearly every squad this year, several of those listed above would have gone in this years draft for sure had they left.
BTW, side note that nbadraft.net has Weasley going #25 right now too
