I'm guessing coaching salaries is a huge chunk... How much do you think Coach K makes? I think I heard somewhere that Wojo makes $1mil as an assistant....

I was thinking the same thing.
And, as in other expense or revenue comparisons such as this, I wonder if each school's amounts are composed of the same things.

yeah I wondered that as well, for example, what's tuition at Duke these days...$40k? But then you do the math and realize that 13 scholarships x 40K is only 520K - a drop in the bucket when you can spend $15M annually.

I'm surprised how far in the lead Duke is. Sure, they're one of the top 5 elite basketball programs in the country, but their arena is small and the best seats are taken by students. Wonder how they generate that much money. I'm guessing their football expenses must be unbelievably low.

A little surprising, too, to see Iowa trying to peek in the top 25, and the champs down at 15.

I have a feeling some of these oddities might just be one-year shocks. I'd like to see a five-year average to perhaps get a better picture.
