If I had been living in a cave and knew nothing else about his recruitment.....I'd say those comments favor KU.

Undergraduate business programs won't help you learn "business", Mr. Barnes! And you know this because you have an undergrad degree in....?

There, we're tied for saying something we have no clue about.
"Missouri is free to create an enduring basketball rivalry with Auburn." -
Re: Harrison Barnes breaks down top 6-will visit UNC over labor day weekend
I'll never bash a kid for looking out for his education (the Duke comment and the responses in this thread to it).... Good for Harrison.
HOWEVER, does anyone here believe for one second that Harrison will get his degree before leaving for the NBA? There's a train of thought that if he's as advertised - he may be a one and done. Most think that 2 is the max he'll spend in college.
I know he's a heady and smart kid - but I don't think he's earning his BBA in two years.
HB is one of those special cases where I feel he should be looking to maximizing his athletic opportunities, while doing his best in academics. Specifically - he should find his best path to the NBA. The young man was born with and worked to earn a golden ticket. From what I gather, he doesn't have "a shot", he has a place waiting for him.
Not sure that does us any good either.... but it is what it is.

I love how people pretend they know everything. Maybe the kid wants to take his millions of dollars and turn it into a billion dollar business. You and I have no idea. To say that he will never use his business degree is beyond dumb. I will tell you this. He is better off having it than NOT having it

Re: Harrison Barnes breaks down top 6-will visit UNC over labor day weekend
Having a degree is definitely important. I think Harrison will finish degree eventually. It may not be lilke before 25, but I am sure he will.
Vince Carter finished his degree after he started playing for the NBA.

How many credits is the degree? 100? 120? Is he bringing in AP credits, can he take a placement exam and earn college credit? Will he utilize the summer bridge option and take 2 classes before his first full semester? For all we know he could be a sophomore before stepping foot on campus.

Who knows. As you state - only HB.

If he plays 1 or 2 years and could be the #1 pick in the NBA draft, he would be stupid if he chose to stay at Iowa State just to get his Business Degree. Financially, he would be 100x better off leaving school without his degree and making millions in the NBA.
Then when his career is over he could choose to return to school and get his degree if that's what he wanted to do.

Personally I would be one and done if I were him and was going to be a top 10 pick.

The engineers I knew in business school did really well and were recruited well, especially in finance and operations. Math and engineering background shows problem-solving skills, always a good thing in the business world.

I love weekly speculations about HB. Because at the end of the week, we still know about as much as we did at the beginning (which is nothing).
