What's Bugging Andy? 8/30... Andy's advice to Harrison Barnes

Hope all of you saw this week's What's Bugging Andy on Soundoff. Andy made it pretty clear he wants Harrison to stay within the Midwest....preferably within the state borders....preferably within a county of Des Moines. Andy really really does not like Kansas either. Does Andy have a lot of Mizzou ties that he absolutely hates Kansas? I guess I've never seen him show any interest or liking for the Tigers. Glad to see he wants Harrison Barnes at ISU, and hopefully Harrison watches Soundoff.

What the hell school is in Des Moines county?

I think it was meant to read as being only one county away from the county Des Moines is in.

Also, I think it would be generally just good for the state of Iowa, not just ISU, if Harrison stayed in state. It be nice to not lose a good in-state recruit, regardless of sport, and regardless of whether he went to Iowa or ISU.

DMACC, I heard HB is considering it. :jimlad: I thought the same thing when I first read it.

Within a county of Des Moines, meaning either Story, Boone, Dallas, Madison, Warren, Marion or Jasper.

Not gonna lie, we were a little shocked the day the Top 6 came out and we weren't on it.:wink:

I'm not sure if harrison barnes is ready to make the step up to the D1 level. I think an extra year of development and maturity at DMACC may be necessary for him. :jimlad:

Kirkwood has pretty good basketball program. Maybe Bryan Peterson can encourge him to go that route and then transfer here. I believe Kiah Stokes dad is also a assistant men's basketball coach there so maybe harrison could help us on that front as well.

Curious about what he said about Kansas, if someone could recap it? The KU homer in me thinks that Kansas would be a nice fit for Mr. Barnes. Self did pretty well with Brandon Rush, turning him from a guy who had never played defense to perhaps the best man-to-man defender on a title team. Harrison seems like Rush with more ability at the rim (and in the classroom). I think Evan Turner might be an even better comparison.

My quick, and unconfirmed, research found that Fales went to Drake, but grew up in Saint Louis, which could explain any sort of Mizzou bias.

I'm not giving OU or UCLA much of a chance, if I were a betting man. I'd say it's a ISU/UNC/Duke/KU race.

He pretty much said Harrison should go to ISU, but if he doesn't he should go anywhere but KU. I'd fully agree.
