Is it being over optimistic if I think this team could finish 3-5 in the B12 standings? The schedule isn't easy by any stretch of the imagination, but I finally see something to be excited about and if some of our new faces can make an impact offensively I see very good things from this team.
One other thing to keep in mind is how bunched the b12 standings can be in a given year - one year four teams went 9-7, one year four teams went 6-10.
It wouldn't surprise me at all if KU and TX have 15-1/14-2 type seasons, and seven teams (OU, OSU, MO, KSU, A&M, ISU, Bay) fight it out for 3rd-10th - its really going to be a dogfight this year.
Can we defend Hilton? Can we snag a couple on the road? Every game will be huge.
I think the big12 will have a shot at getting 8 teams into the tourney (Pac10 and SEC will be really weak). Depending on how we do against Cal, Duke, UNI, at Drake, and Notre Dame/Northwestern will determine if 8-8 will be enough to get in.
I was a little surprised that Colvin wasn't a freshman they were looking forward to seeing...
Meh... Who cares about being on 9th. We will prove them wrong. Remember back in the day when they thought we were garbage and ended up making the elite eight run? Preseason ranking is full of crap.
If by bubble team, you mean NIT bubble team...then yes. We need a 4-6th place finish to have a shot at the NCAA tournament.
I'm on board with a 3 - 5 place finish this year. We will be more experienced, athletic, and have more depth. The competition has to be incredible at practice. I've got to believe they are really pushing each other.
Can't wait to find out!!
