I'm sure the hotel and parking situation is a big part of it plus just the lack of things to do here. Yes Court Ave. has improved but it's not exactly very close to WFA either. The arena itself is not the problem, its the nearby ammenities that a large event like this requires that Des Moines is lacking in.

Dallas, Atlanta and LA.

But your point is well taken.

Maybe the better question - ever tried to fly anywhere other than Minneapolis of Chicago for anything close to the same fares you would elsewhere?

Even then - you probably won't match Omaha or KC.

Yeah the fare thing is an issue. Trying to get to DSM from different corners of a country at a decent rate is quite a challenge

lived in both places...des moines is a hole. omaha has ridiculously huge events all the time, des moines has local bands at hairy mary's...

I hate to even use the word, but is it really cheaper to travel to Boise? They have 1st-2nd round games every few years, or are they just that short of places bidding on West Regional games anymore?
You would think with the Pod system, they could even eliminate one of the west sites and shift more east which could help Des Moines. Afterall, the pod system, it was designed to reduce travel, right?
