Interesting Rule Change
Just tweeted by CycloneMBB:
New rule in college hoops. If a player is fouled and gets injured, the other team's coach picks the player to shoot the free throws.
I like it!

Could put a no-namer on the line in some dramatic situations!

Re: Interesting Rule Change
The intent is to prevent late game faked injuries by poor freethrow shooters in order to get more consistent shooters to the line?
That makes sense.
The only potential downside is that it might lead to players making an effort to injure good shooters in late game scenarios. Who knows, though?

Re: Interesting Rule Change
I thought this rule was in place last season. Maybe it was just the players on the floor then.

Re: Interesting Rule Change
It's gotta be players on the floor right? What if you are suiting a player up, but plan to redshirt him. Now all of a sudden he loses his redshirt year because the other coach put him on the free throw line?

Re: Interesting Rule Change
I also heard a new rule, but it only applies to Allen Fieldhouse.
"When a player from an opposing team is shooting 2 freethrows, it is now against the rules for Kansas to grab the rebound after the first missed freethrow and shoot a 3 and then allow the opposing team to shoot the second freethrow after that has taken place."
also "Blarge" is defined:
"A 'blarge' is a combination of a block and a charge. Tie always goes to Michigan State or otherwise the home team on the scoreboard."

It has to be that they let the coach of the injured player substitute and then they pick from the 5 players on the floor...otherwise if they could pick anybody it'd be incentive to just absolutely hammer people in that situation so you could pick Klay Edwards to come in and shoot them (Just kidding man )

Re: Interesting Rule Change
That is interesting. They could make it even more interesting if the opposing coach could choose anyone in the whole building to shoot the free throws.....mascots, cheerleaders, fans, janitors, concession workers, announcers.
"With 2.8 seconds left on the clock, little timmy comes to the line standing a menacing 3' 8".....he hands off his cotton candy and licks his fingers.....takes 2 dribbles (one off his chin)......crouches down and banks in a granny shot to tie the game......THE CROWD GOES WILD!!!!!"

Re: Interesting Rule Change
I only like this if it's a selection from the remaining players on the floor. If not, this would be one of the worst rules ever.
