You know, I used to make that exact same arguement. (Still do to a degree). But when you think about it, HB is a one and done player. Some analysts say he is NBA-ready right now! And thats not even mentioning his intellect and personality. HB would be "the man" at UNC too. There will only be a small handful of players of his quality in all of college.

In the end, there isn't really a "bad" option for him.

I'm not too sure where everyone is getting this from? He's never said that, therefore everyone is ASSUMING. Please stop. It's annoying.

Well obviously I want him to come here but I think UNC gives him the best chance at being a top 5 pick. He'll be in the spotlight, put up huge stats in their offense which is perfect for him, and get to play with great players. I realize NBA scouts already know him but in order to cement his status as a future lottery pick I think going to North Carolina would be his best option. Barnes says all the right things about his future but its pretty apparent his future is in the NBA and thats what I'd be looking out for.

He's going to be a top 5 pick if he goes to DMACC.

Nobody ever says that. You really think a player would say even before committing to a school that he is going to be one and done?

Ok. So am I incorrect in saying that people are assuming then?

Like I said scouts will find him anywhere but if he goes to UNC and plays in that offense with those great players it will only help him. I really don't think his college choice will make a huge difference in regards to his NBA status but it could be the difference between number 1 pick and number 5.

The assumption wouldn't be that far off and all any of this HB talk is right now is speculation. I think he'll be a 2 or 3 year player depending upon how much of an impact he makes.
Re: Harrison Barnes' diary
Obviously HB isn't going to say anything negative about a school in his diary of his visits that is posted on the web for all of us to break down. My guess is you will see 5 diary entries that are extremely complimentary towards the 5 schools he officially visits. After every visit, we can all freak out about HB going to (name the school he visited) and not ISU. Like kg said, it just comes down to what HB wants, and only HB knows that.

No, you are correct. I am assuming that. Assumptions are a big part of this site I have noticed.

So, the answer is yes. I am correct. No assumption(s) needed.
Re: Harrison Barnes' diary
I think HB should do what is best for him and IMO, that's going to someplace like Duke or UNC. It's a novel idea for him to come to ISU and I'd love that, but from his position I can't see where ISU presents a better benefit of getting to the next level over these other prominent programs.
Of note, I was wrong about what CB should do...well...at least the fact that I felt he should go and not return for the junior year. Jury still out on if it was a good move or not. But, I felt he would go and he didn't.
So, I'll just keep believing that HB is headed elsewhere in hopes that once again, I am wrong. :)

So the Dukes and NCs of the world are made up of top, top players. You're saying HB is better than all of them? Pretty sure he'd get some floor time his first year, but to think he comes in as the second coming...
He obviously has the skills to play at the next level and can play for anyone he wants but going to NC or Duke will NOT make him a more attractive pro prospect. You play for those guys if you want to play for Roy or K or if you get starstruck being around guys who are no longer in the program.
Some people want to be a part of big things, while others want to start big things. Maybe he doesn't want the pressure ala Wesley or maybe he wants all the weight on his shoulders ala Austen...
