Dear Mr. Barnes, you have a straightforward decision
If you are as good as they claim you will be in college for a maximum of 2 years before moving to the NBA. In the short term there will be no degree for you. There is no guarantee that you will start as a freshman at Kansas or NC. Sitting on the bench will cost you as much as a million per year. You will start as a freshman at ISU. Will you ask your mother to give up her job and move with you for what could be 1 year in another state? What if you get hurt and don’t collect that big paycheck. I predict that Mom will not move and Ames will continue to be home for you & your family. Duke, NC, & Kansas always have great players; you can be one of the many if you like. In contrast you can be a legend in Ames and throughout Iowa; ask Fred Hoiberg. Economically you will do as well or better at ISU; but you will find out that there is more to life than money. Ames offers you a place in Iowa history. ISU is clearly the best choice for you and your family. -
Re: Dear Mr. Barnes, you have a straightforward decision
Wrong. He'll start anywhere. Multiple scouts have labeled him already as NBA worthy.
Mom isn't going anywhere.
I about guarantee he has an insurance policy against himself.
Will agree with being a legend.
Economically? What the hell?

Re: Dear Mr. Barnes, you have a straightforward decision
Please take this down. I get that the OP wants HB to come to ISU, but it is an idiotic post in so many ways.

Re: Dear Mr. Barnes, you have a straightforward decision
Does this creep anyone else out as much as it does me? I don't think it is appropriate to post something like this.
The young man has a tough decision to make. He seems like an intelligent young man, who has his feet firmly on the ground, and not in the clouds.
I don't think we should be saying negative things that might happen if he goes to another school. Emphasize the positive things about coming to ISU, fine. But why make up stuff about what might happen if he goes to another school?
I think the part that really got to me was when the OP mentioned his mother. What the hell? Why would you want to bring up to a young man how his decision may affect his mother's employment, and if she should move or not. That is none of our business for one thing, but it is just creepy to even bring it up.
Can we just close this thread and hope it never appears again? This just seems wrong to me.

Re: Dear Mr. Barnes, you have a straightforward decision
If I was HB I would be insulted by this. Talking to him as if he were a 7th grader is not a great strategy to get him to Ames.
My hope is this is a Hawk trolling to get a reaction, but my guess is you are for real which is truly embarrassing.

To the OP: In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection. -
Re: Dear Mr. Barnes, you have a straightforward decision
How about no more HB threads come up untill he makes his decision............... I highly doubt he will make his decision based on whats posted on here. So just quit it, this crap comes up at least once a week.

Re: Dear Mr. Barnes, you have a straightforward decision

Re: Dear Mr. Barnes, you have a straightforward decision
This is precisely the right time to remind Harrison of the virtues of Ames and ISU especially after he has just met the elite of NC graduates. He doesn’t live in isolation, he is aware of our attitude towards him. -

I don't think the OP is as bad as people are making it out to be. I agree it probably wasn't necessary to start a new thread, but it's also not necessary to bash a fellow cyclone.

Murder-suicides usually have nothing to do with the neighborhood or town they occur in. I have no idea on the details of this one.
